The latest out of RED--Part 1 of the Campus Power Project!

A member of both RED and the IWW interviewed a member of the IWW South Sound General Education Union, to learn more about their solidarity unionism and their big win recently.

Many thanks to Organizing Work for originally running this piece! (We're running the somewhat longer version of the interview.)

Here's an excerpt: "The IWW brings this really sharp class analysis that’s missing on a lot of college campuses. A big part of the issue with a lot of campuses in general is that you have this class, this working class, that doesn’t act fully in solidarity with each other, depending on the sections they’re in. And that’s because we’re taught to not view each other as workers. We’re taught to view each other as job titles, which is the goal of the craft union, too.

So industrial union organizing allows for these bridges to be built that can actually allow us to achieve our goals much better, that can actually help us bring forth the kind of campuses we would want, democratically controlled by the people that are learning in them and working in them."

Starting July 27th the People's School will present its Fundamentals of MLM course. This is a nice opportunity to learn the correct proletarian outlook and method, in its totality, in a 5-week intensive.

It consists of of 5 weekly 4-hour lectures and weekly discussion sections (see the syllabus on the site for the texts). The lectures will be held on *Saturdays from 11AM-3PM at the May Day Space in Bushwick: 176 St. Nicholas Ave, Bushwick, Brooklyn 11237.*

It costs money: $50 for the whole course, or $15 per lecture you attend. No one will be turned away for lack of ability to pay.

We hope to see you there. Happy studies over the summer, and red salute
