At 10 a.m. on Friday, two groups of students walked out of Sitka High representing two perspectives on school safety. For fifteen minutes the groups stood on opposite sides of the sidewalk. At one point, students calling for gun reform began to yell, "No more silence, no more violence," while students on the other side chanted, "Protect our children and our guns."

Love and Miss Raven Radio so much... the closest thing I get these days is listening to Ed Ronco on KNKX... at least I hear a familiar voice. Raven is the Best Community Radio station ever...

Live music alert! Traditional Tsimshian artist Mark Sixbey and music teacher Matt Groen are performing original songs on Ted Howard's Trailmix now. Mark and Matt are leading a talk and musical performance at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Sheldon Jackson Museum.
Almost 4 inches of rain has fallen in Sitka over the last 24 hours, raising area streams to bankfull. Yesterday (Oct 26, 2017) set a new rainfall record for the date, with 2.44 inches. This is the Indian River at lunchtime today. Nevertheless, rainfall for the month of October is running a few inches below normal.
