Four neighborhoods of classrooms, large collaborative spaces, flexible learning, and project areas that allow for hands-on activity—these are just a few of the features that make Meadowlark Elementary School in Cheyenne a creative and vibrant place for learning. This 72,000-square-foot school, designed by the team of RB+B Architects and TDSi, make it one-of-a-kind for Laramie County School District 1. Read more from the Wyoming Tribune Eagle on how the school helps to elevate the learning experience.

CHEYENNE – Kirsten Rief and her students once lost some cockroaches behind a counter in her classroom at Cheyenne’s Buffalo Ridge Elementary.

In honor of this week’s successful SpaceX launch, why not share some aerial photos that are a little closer to home? Fransen Pittman General Contractors' drone captured these early stage construction images at Englewood’s Maddox Early Childhood Center. RB+B and Fransen Pittman are working with Owner’s Rep CBRE to replace Maddox on its existing, fully operational site. The “dragonfly” design concept will inspire learning through play for Englewood Schools' early childhood program.

Boulder Valley School District’s Emerald Elementary School was recently awarded the Peak Design Award from the Rocky Mountain Chapter Association 4 Learning Environments (A4LE)! The project is one of BVSD’s Exemplar Schools that employs a new way of teaching and 21st Century design. The project is also net-zero ready and targeted to operate at just 30 kBTU/sf/yr. RB+B collaborated with Fielding Nair International who was the educational planner for the project. Swinerton Builders enabled the building come to life. (Photos by Paul Brokering Photography.)

Ground was broken last week at the new Early Childhood Center at Maddox for Englewood Schools, in what may have been the “cutest groundbreaking ever," coined by the RB+B team. The event was attended by staff, community members, and many of the preschool-aged early learners that call Maddox home. The $13.7 million project, a 37,000-square-foot school for 250 children, replaces the current building on the existing site and is being built by
Fransen Pittman General Contractors. Once the school moves to their new home, the existing building will serve as swing space for another elementary school in the district while they also await the construction of their new school.

Not only do we have an amazingly talented professional staff, but we’re pretty fit, too. The ArchiFreaks placed 1st in the team division for the Phantom 4-miler run in Fort Collins over Halloween weekend with an average pace of 30 minutes and 49 seconds! Eleanor placed 3rd in her age group and Mac placed 2nd in his! Our costumes were on point and we enjoyed free breakfast burritos and beer at the tour center afterward. While Jamison, his wife Sarah, and their UPS delivery-dog, Sputnik, didn’t win the costume competition, they were certainly in the top two! Way to go, team.

RB+B was represented by our own Ashley Jackson in the Fort Collins Museum of Art Masks Exhibition. Ashley designed and decorated a mask that was on display for the Exhibition’s opening last week as part of Fort Collins’ First Friday Gallery Walk. Money raised from the fundraiser helps contribute to the annual operating budget for the Museum. Ashley shared that the piece, titled “Adhesion", was created out of strips of architectural magazines in the form of a collage. Images from magazines were chosen for textures and colors that complemented one another. The composition was in response to the shape of the mask.

RB+B typically sponsors one staff member each year to showcase their artistic talents while supporting this great, local cause.
