Machine embroidery friends, don’t you love these (and all of All About Blanks)? If you’re in East Tennessee, you’ll know exactly what Susan means about the weather, too!
I'm going to be excited about anything that's named "Cabana", because after day 9 of dreary, cloudy weather, that sounds amazing! Come see our new Cabana Colle...ction of canvas totes and cosmetic bags. LOVE the colors, LOVE the styles! Check out those gold fringe tassels!
I’ve pledged, and truly hope they make their goal!
Even if you can't contribute right now, share the campaign! It would be a fascinating exhibition catalog to see in print! Lots of textile history here, and for those who can't make it to an exhibition, the catalog is the Next Best Thing!
A few years ago I started traveling to New York City now and again (it might have something to do with a dear daughter moving there). I started reading about NYC's sights and history, including all the design work that goes into the subway system's stations, maps, and signage.
I haven't looked at those free subway maps the same way since.
On It’s Sew Easy episode 1309, airing from noon today (Friday, February 16, 2018) until noon on February 23 at itsseweasytv.com, I'll show you how to turn a paper map into a durable and useful tote bag. As a bonus, I talk about embellishing the map with your own handwriting and symbols like stars and arrows - all converted into stitches!
I’m stunned and so sad to hear this news!
”It is unclear at this time what will happen to designers who are currently under contract with Free Spirit some of whom are among the biggest names in the quilting industry including Tula Pink, Kaffe Fasset, Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, and Denyse Schmidt, among many others. It’s also unclear at this time what will happen to the company employees.”
Dinner last night was a real treat, sharing laughs and ideas with Sew Much Cosplay’s Cheryl Sleboda, Michelle Paganoonoo Paganini, Londa Sewing Rohlfing, and the incomparable Angela Wolf. These women are amazing; I learned so much from them, and that was just at dinner!
I had a great trip to the It’s Sew Easy studio...even the snow was more lovely than troublesome. Now I’m tickled pink to be in one of Cheryl’s iconic selfies, and to have been part of Angela’s live broadcast yesterday.
Season 1500 of It’s Sew Easy is full of great ideas from the five of us and more, and it’s coming to a screen near you later this year. It’s the next best thing to being there!
I‘ve enjoyed making patchwork and quilted garments forever, and if you use purpose-made piecing, there are no qualms about cutting up antiques. Maybe I’m about to be in style! https://www.gq.com/story/emily-bode-profile-nyfw-preview
It’s Sew Easy episode 1307 will be airing on itsseweasytv.com from noon on Friday, February 2, 2018 until noon on February 9. The sponsors are: Brother, Kai Scissors and Floriani.
In keeping with the travel theme, author and educator Rebecca Kemp Brent uses RNK's Deco Magic as she sews a unique embellished box with a lid to stash photos, treasures and souvenirs.
If that's not enough It's Sew Easy for your week, you can also enjoy segment 1401-1 on the It's Sew Easy YouTube channel. Join Angela Wolf as she shows how to make a shirt dress from two denim shirts. Or, continue your journey along the fashion timeline with It's Sew Easy series 1000 on Create TV this month.
I’m enchanted by the lace-framed rose design mounted in the traditional hoop! Machine embroidery can do so many things.
The Hot Hemmer by Joan Hawley for Clover is one of my favorite things. It’s so quick and easy to fold a hem over the tool, measuring the hem depth, and press!
