STORY
The Society of The Red Carnation was one of a number of Jacobite Societies which flourished at the end of the nineteenth
century (June 17 th 1897).It differed from other societies in that it combined socialism with advocating the Restoration of the Elder and Exiled branch of the Royal Family It's leaders are not really well known people but were E. Lindsay Foakes, Gavin Scott and L. D. Holford St...revens.
There was however in the late nineteenth century a short lived "Society of the Red Carnation" which combined
Legitimism with the principles of Christian Socialism, including in their policies, nationalisation of the railways and mines together with old age pensions.
In times of James III, the Jacobites refused:a financial banking, the national debt, high taxes, the standing army, a parliament led by the capitalist oligarchy, the capitalist plutocracy.
the Jacobites claimed: localist constitutions, charters and franchises, municipal rights, land and common property, separation of powers, annual parliaments, traditional monarchy based on divine right monarchy that upholds justice and people's rights, the rights of rural world, against capitalist aggression, against absolute private property, which denies fundamental rights.
In times of Charles Edward Stuart, 1753 defended: annual parliaments; limited to a maximum of 50, the number of employees of the Crown, replacement of the army by a militia in times of peace, religious freedom, press freedom and proposed union of the three crowns to a free parliament not subject to oligarchies which exploit the monarchy.
