“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us ...the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57
By faith in Jesus, his resurrection is our victory over eternal death and the grave. We will rejoice to see our Lord return at the last day. And as our glorious and perfect king, he will take us to live in his heavenly kingdom.
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the R...ighteous One.
1 John 2:1
After his death he rose again to life and returned to his rightful place in heaven. There he continues his work as our great High Priest—the one who sacrificed his life for us and now speaks to the Father in our defense. But when we sin, Jesus does not point to our good works as if they could somehow cancel out the wrong that we have done. Instead, he reminds the Father of his perfect life of love.

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was hear...d because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
Heavenly Father, even as Jesus offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, I come to you today. I know that my prayer is possible and acceptable, and you hear my prayer because of Jesus’ reverent submission for me. Bless me in knowing and believing that Jesus learned obedience for me. Through him, the source of eternal salvation, I pray. Amen.
Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the Feast. They came to Philip who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they s...aid, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say: ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.
In the midst of this dark world, plagued by the devil’s terrors, may our Savior draw us to himself, to see his victory and the glory he has won for us.
Dear Jesus, I cannot repay you for what you sacrificed to bring me forgiveness. Give me opportunities to tell others how you are the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Amen.
Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Jesus gave up his very self as everything we needed. He was ...an offering and sacrifice to God for us. By the perfect life he lived and the innocent death he died, we were made right with God. Through faith, God gives us credit for everything Jesus has done for us. That offering and sacrifice that Jesus made—he made for us.
How do we meet the perfect standard God sets? Jesus is the only answer we need!
The LORD said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a po...le. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.
Are you feeling down today? Then look up to Jesus and his great love for you on the cross! Tired of life and its detours? Find rest in Jesus! Wounded by sin? Find healing in his wounds! Look to Jesus. He is your Savior from sin and death.
God raised us up with Christ.
Jesus arrived. He lived a holy life on our behalf. He suffered and died for our every failure. Then he rose from the... grave.
And now, through faith in Christ, God has raised us up. He has given us life—a life that pulsates with joy, hope, light, and peace in Jesus. It is now our privilege to smile on others, as the Lord has smiled upon us.
“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”

Sweet the moments, rich in blessing, which before the cross we spend,
Life and health and peace possessing from the sinner’s dying Friend.
Lord, in loving contemplation fix our hearts and eyes on you
Till we taste your full salvation and your unveiled glory view.
Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he d...oes not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Thank you, Jesus, for doing what the Old Testament priests did, and for not doing what the Old Testament priests did. Thank you for being my perfect High Priest. May I trust you to meet my every need, today and always. Amen.
[Christ] … is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe. It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be pro...phets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers.
... He makes sure that his message gets out, and that there are messengers to get that message out. Thank God that he does it, because that guarantees that you can keep on hearing that wonderful message of salvation. What a gracious Prophet Jesus is!
And God spoke all these words: “I am the LORD your God…You shall have no other gods…You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God…Remember the Sabbath day ...by keeping it holy…Honor your father and your mother…You shall not murder…commit adultery…steal…give false testimony against your neighbor…covet.”
Dear Father, everyone wants their say in today’s world. My sinful nature wants to speak up, as well. But when you speak, I see my sin. When you speak, I know your love and forgiveness in Christ. Let your words dwell in my heart. Amen.
