Last week, I led my bipartisan freshman colleagues in a meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office to discuss the absolute necessity of legislative terms limits. We must end the cycle of career politicians once and for all; we must return the People’s House to the People. We need to return to a citizen legislature, and I will not stop fighting until term limits are achieved. President Trump understands this important issue and has agreed to support our push for term ...limits.

I made clear to the President that, as a former FBI Special Agent who oversaw the FBI’s Political Corruption Unit for the entire nation, I witnessed firsthand an undeniable correlation between the length of time in office and the instances of corruption. The lines that were very bright for elected officials on day one in office were not so bright in year seven or eight, and even less so in years 15 or 20.

It is my firm belief that, with the support of the President and our bipartisan group of freshman members, we can address this “root issue” of systemic corruption once and for all, and we can make a real, lasting change to business as usual in Washington. We owe this to the American people. The time is now to get this done.

As our nation continues to combat the threat of terrorism, it is crucial that we learn from the past in our mission to keep our nation safe. The House took a key step forward by requiring the installation of secondary cockpit barriers on all new passenger aircraft. While this is a major victory for airline safety, we will continue to fight until all current passenger aircraft contain secondary barriers.

Secondary cockpit barriers would be required in all new passenger airplanes to deter hijackers under a measure led by U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) that was included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill approved by the U.S. House Read more...

We need to tack our community's opioid epidemic from all angles. I'm proud of the work of the #PennsburySD is doing to focus on the health of their students and the community at large. The school district recently launched an on-site mental health counseling program for its students and families in partnership with the districts new Addiction and Mental Health Task Force. The clinical counseling, in partnership with St. Mary Medical Center and Family Service Association of Bucks County, began last month at Pennsbury High School. The district hopes to continue its partnership and expand the program to students and families in the elementary and middle school communities. As the co-chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Taskforce, I have worked tirelessly both in Congress and in our communities to find solutions to this devastating epidemic. I am encouraged by the steps that members of our community are taking to address this issue as well. I am willing and excited to work with any individual or group to ensure that we find a solution to this terrible problem.

American women undergoing surgery deserve to have all the facts. I am disturbed to hear that current guidelines in American gynecology may not be enough to detect cancer before women undergo surgery. The gynecology specialty should be making their best attempt to identify women at risk of having unknown uterine cancers – such as the one Dr. Amy Reed succumbed to. The incidence of cancer presented in the Green Journal study are much too high to comfortably accept. I look forward to working with Director Redfield to increase vigilance on any procedure that might lead to cancer spread or upstaging.

Washington, DC - Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) today released a statement following reports that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) plans to review whether gynecologists should be conducting more cancer screening before common procedures such as hysterectomies.

Twenty-seven years ago, when deciding on the location of my Eagle Scout Project, I chose to renovate the Kitchen Gardens at Pennsbury Manor in Falls Township, the colonial estate of William Penn, founder and proprietor of the Colony of Pennsylvania, who lived there from 1683 to 1701.

It was such an honor to return to that site as the area’s Representative in Congress to thank all the volunteers at this beautiful historic property in our community, and to check up on the condition of my Eagle project!

Our nation faces many challenges, but perhaps none is more pressing than that of growing our economy and getting Americans to work. Today’s unemployment report and other recent economic indicators are pointing in the right direction - and not a moment too soon.

The fact is, the 1.5% GDP growth we’ve experienced over the past several years was simply unsustainable. If that trend had continued, we would not be able to fund priorities such as bolstering our national security, ta...king care of our veterans, combatting the addiction crisis, funding public education, and preserving our environment.

The positive impact of strong, sustained economic growth has the potential to not only grow small businesses and help families make ends meet, but also address the many other pressures we face.

I am fighting each day to advance my #AnAmericaThatWorks jobs agenda focused on increasing employment, raising take-home pay and training Americans for the economy of tomorrow
