But I do just want to good morning and thank you all for being here It's great to one With all my shit, we've been working so hard on this bill and we're gonna get through. We are trying to get a bipartisan built is boring to help conservation in this country is gonna help save so many of our species. It's in to be here with all my friends really just means a lot Cohen and Jackson and and I got two chefs were actually my colleague and judge 10 vehicles You can say to truly probably can't believe chair gonna be recovering presents strong to adjusting the current biodiversity crisis but use the innovative state face management where a lot of the work is down in the States know what they need to do that will save our nation's environmental hearing in our future generations the bill proposed Dedicate one point three billion dollars and dedicates funding for the Wildlife Conservation Restoration program which will help promote conservation and species protection so that future generations can join them and it will ultimately help get more people outdoors from hunters and anglers to Bird watchers and backyard barbecues to love birds and butterflies This is exactly the type of big full project that we need to have we need Modernize conservation policy and this was Jamie was organized by Blue Blue Ribbon Commission that brought people of all different bathrooms. We love the outdoors. Want to preserve our natural resources have different perspectives and that's how you get a deal like this Without a change in the way we finance fish and wildlife conservation the list of federally endangered species is expected to grow from nearly 1600 species today to thousands of former future This new dedicate funding created by the covering of smile on my face is in excavated wildlife from becoming endanger to ensure the long-term health of fish and wildlife that provide countless hours of the outdoor enjoyment People to understand what our species to protect the habitat that we all live in They'll tell me promise that the best way to save America's wildlife is through collaborative proactive on the ground conservation draw will help you cover 12000 12000 species considered in need including this current 1600 pieces of the Endangered Species Act right now as I mentioned how this bill got crafted by Blue Ribbon panel on sustaining America's diverse fish and wildlife resources And every step of the way we've worked in a bipartisan manner with stakeholder groups of build tax that adjusts everyone's concerned There were a lot of people meetings I'm gonna say and all the things that our stash right now spend a ton of time This bill wouldn't be here today without our staffs who knew that we wanted this everybody steps if you're So thank you It's how impressive should work It's how we're here today So this will really help the States from front lines of consecration of our nation's wildlife and it's pretty cool that we provide resources for them to prevent from becoming danger you know and I also have saved not really proud that it's built a model that already been established and show that they were hidden Robertson and Dingell Johnson and you know everybody thinks that single is what you see so if you see that ah it's actually is fun it is power that so this is their own child not about them it workshop unveiling proud to be giving us today and i looking at this plant a tree he should want justices given us we are towards in the town get this event in big fm somewhere in my thought inject for Beautiful day. Thank you so much Thank you all for being here I believe this is the most exciting public policy development in the conservation space that has happened in decades and I want to commend my colleague picking up this math and we're steadily and consistently been leaning into the problems with all of the staff, healthier and outside partners as well to work toward some consensus around the fundamental goal and it's really three things this protects Echo It enhances community and support variation That's why we have a diverse group of persons who are very interested in coming and aligning around the space for people who are interested in our natural security environmental security people interested in community recreation sports. We understand anglers for people who wanna protect butterflies all aligns musically and how does it happen I actually funding a federal mandate in a more creative fashion helping States improve their state wildlife management plan working and voluntary capacities to create a continuity of habitat that again creates the opportunity or enhance recreation hunting and protecting pristine ecosystems that are absolutely necessary for the survivability Friday Debbie is exactly right What this does is it moves us upstream from the emergency room procedures of the Endangered Species Act when something goes wrong well out or not. Why not make something go, right Why not move from regulation and litigation to collaboration in concert and in the meanwhile that says huge amounts of government and society While enhancing recreation sporting opportunity it's a winner so that's why I'm proud to be here with my great knowledge Clearly brings a passion to the space inherits a long tradition in our family of making things happen in this space and I love it like we're gonna get this done Thanks so much Thank you for the generous introduction Calling out the President Ceo of the National Wildlife Federation of America's largest wildlife conservation Organization, Six million, members and affiliates in all 50 States, especially the Great Depression Michigan right now across from the main to the with the care of the Northwest to the Southeast of the desert tortoise of his class today moving right in the box in the and Amazing card butterfly and the piping clovers of Michigan the right now the States across the country are benefiting the 12000 species of greatest conservation better record last year with American Fisheries Society in the wilderness Society and basically putting all the data of one third of all species are in trouble and this is a remarkable number because we've actually got a better job saving most of the competition anywhere else All relations dot population Turkey populations like this There's a whole lot more and you know I'm sorry for a month ago a month ago it's a million species that are troubled Veronica L A million Fusion. This is our this is gonna be an America's piece of the six nation. They talk about what better way to try to lead the world and actually leave in the collaboration on the ground through proactive is currently up stream solutions that state station before they reach the room where we absolutely have to have ordered on and regulatory solutions There's a smarter way The plant bullish anyways on Polish in the way we have not invested in the practical work of front and so America's wildlife is in crisis and we don't really investigating that problem I can be more proud of the leadership of the important, very deserts greatest conservation as both attic figure out ways to get things done in a time of little bit of divisiveness in this body and showing the dealer but also be more proud of 150 Co sponsors from both parties are already getting behind this bill. It's remarkable collection of All the way to our left and the far right and everywhere in between meetings we can drive collaboration across the entire country One of the best parts of the state already had plans There are statewide election planting exists that we can use invested directly work There's gonna be a lot of some of the big changes. This bill would allow the tribes There's live speech of the concerns of the tribes There's more communication one of the most exciting parts trying to drive more innovation into the Crossfit Crossfit is really rewarding success and how important it has great ideas for all the amazing programs. One of the living in building on successes We're having replicate those across the country and there's also a lot of times we all about for companies We all better be water resilient communities with Savor comedian place seven point six million people in the country at this point this is gonna enhance that also when we see it wildlife we save ourselves And visit solution that matches the magnitude of the problem This could be one of the greatest conservation victories in the last half century and might not be more proud to stand with congressman for single on this journey because this is one of those things, it's gonna convince people academic You've been Americans to the big things and this really will make America so with that let me bring up one of the greatest conservation leaders in this great city and foundation. My very good friend jumping so tall on debate whether I stand on Good morning. I'm Jeff Greene. I'm the Congressional Sportsman's Foundation I guess the great privilege of working with the largest most active by partisan bicameral caucus in the United States Congress and Congressional Sportsman's Caucus which is congresswoman Now she's in leadership of the pork barrel Remember long term member of the caucus. So this fits right into our wheel House sports men and women are consultations congressman Pointed out April Johnson Act but even before that hidden Robertson from two distinguished gentlemen, these bodies here came over the idea of taxing and addition firearms and putting it into a dedicated office This was coming out right on the heels of the great depression and sportsmen and women decided to stand up and agree that this was a good idea over 80 years ago, this program was born followed by the Johnson Act bet on a fishing tap In related equipment and over the last eight years is over 62 billion dollars which has been raised to ghost specifically to conservation efforts for fish and wildlife So we know the program works problem is that's not enough money there are too many too many taxing issues or too many people there's too much pressure on our environment We need to supplement with this. We need to plus this up. We need a complimentary program and thanks to the leadership of these two and In the House of Representatives and shortly in the Senate we've got a plant I got the distinguish privilege to sit as part of this blue ribbon panel. Believe me we turn it over a lot of stones looking for answers on how we can do this and this takes a significant investment and it takes an investment now 12000 possible species they could be listed It's pretty easy. Doctor either be on invest money. Now get out in front of this product and do what Pittman Robertson and Dingell Johnson does for game species and take them to Wildlife habitat conservation we pay for it later and as a taxpayer, I kinda like the investment now versus the later so I will go to my friend come on here and say thank you very led the effort along with comfortable and the last Congress So appreciate you both switch roles Stay in there together That's the names together so thank you all for being here We look forward to working with this layers in terms of trying to make this trying to look at So now it's my privilege to enter introduce Ed Carter who is not only the executive director of the Tennessee Wildlife Resource agencies but also the current President of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agency. So added Good morning What a very historic day I'm honored to be here under the Jeff just announced his President Association of all the fishing while agencies including the territories We're really glad what we do but I really like to talk a little bit more probably as a state director and what this means to the state level as Congress want mission a lot of the work that happens on the state level and tried to stay trust species. So well I don't know Association together I've been working very easy now for over 40 - seven years starting to go the story itself, but in any case it's been a great privilege for me to be the part of the reason I mention it is not years of longevity but because a lot of other people, I had a great opportunity to be a part of the conservation movement in which a lot of the iconic species this country, the deer Or restore and they restored through a lot of work, a lot of different organizations and now those are back to us to acceptable population numbers really work to bring disaster We'll just say it likely that probably began about a hundred 11 years ago run this teddy Roosevelt was President. The time could mean the conference of governors and at that conference governors, they laid out plan where they would like to see why in this country to bring it back to some kind of Model which became known as the North American Wildlife Management and I can truthfully say in business the countries and talking about our group if is the enemy of the rest of the world and it works it has to be based on science and implemented by trained professionals in that leg labor spurred more legislation. You already heard that help fund and maintain those species different wild birds and mammals people, Johnson from fisheries and we also Roman for future public access and weapon stage to compensate them all those destabilisation funding source and sustain community programs or a length of time for the States to implement programs that you were last year a year rather than worrying about started stop on each particular species This recovering American smile. I think will be exactly the same thing It will accomplish the same goals for species of wildlife that really have no Sustained funding stores over any length of time and we'll put that in place so that we know if you're hear what we can do given that funding to States and all our many partner organizations we can accomplish those animals. The same thing we did for those aspirations of larger species I just side every state could do this side from Tennessee We found a species of muscles that we thought had been extinct for a number of years We took it to our obligations that are broadcast Center with hopes that we could restore those I'm proud to say two years later we went from practically none to 4002 thousand. Those are now back to the doctor in Tennessee. We're doing well and that's kind of examples to give also mentioned his patient while fish and wildlife service in Tennessee Very near future will be making an announcement about and others You see the bikes there's gonna be list They can often species this because of this kind of work. This kind of fun I know that everything you ever listened in order to eliminate this save as many Organization they can give you those amish their own subscribe it put it is a funny there was spread it now we will take it very good boy whose interest branch founded by inflation march which is more ever tried to be here thank you we can do it was referred to make of our life they was asked source of learning that you come here it was program we can change of we want a lot specially you were not a very soon in twelve thousand species bridge conformation that we that my Today I would say it's historic is that conference in a way We're facing challenges now that we didn't have opportunity for time We have basic species such a basic car so basically cross stations aggressive. The crime had diseases are rampant among our 12000 features of numbers that we fear every day So let me just understand that at all I guess they're taking questions. Everybody has Question I wanted to speak to what this bill would do travel trips to insert well try It's included Talk specific No Go back The legislation they are incredible stories of our National barbecue the best in the world and leadership of both almost a hundred million dollars to be dedicated towards conservation on tribal lands and that's incredibly important given the number of species that historically have rained on the way and then ship once again So it's a huge addition to I think it's a recognition that all our friends at all This great man every possibility to bring that all think it's exactly right this isn't some sort of ad on It's a compliment to integrate In my own state, I represent through drives two landed and had significant natural resources that they they actually so absolutely including tribes as a part of this is not just a an ad It's an integrated component because it has to be part of this Member of the resource Committee spoke Arabic came on as an original cosponsor What's the total price That's that's it Very good Thank you
