As many of you may have heard, President Trump has announced nationwide raids to arrest thousands of members of undocumented families. He is threatening local families and instilling fear in our immigrant communities. This is plain wrong. My message to you today is this: know your rights. Big win in our fight against offshore oil and gas drilling: the House approved my amendment last week to block any Trump administration changes to coastal zone management “consistency” rules. That means that California and other coastal states can continue to weigh in on proposed federal activities like oil and gas drilling off their shores. I also worked with Congressman Salud Carbajal to include an amendment that blocks any funds for offshore drilling off the Pacific Coast. I’m going to keep fighting for healthy oceans that support tourism, outdoor recreation, and our way of life.
