This weekend, I read to the third-grade class at Liberty Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America Day.

Yesterday, a very special constituent turned 100 years old. Col. John C. Harrington served our Nation in WWII as a bomber pilot and squadron commander who flew over the treacherous “hump” of the Himalayas to support the allied war effort. In his honor, I requested a flag to be flown over the United States Capitol Building. Thank you for your service, Col. Harrington, and a very happy birthday! You are a true American hero.
