Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs is a serious offense. Today I heard testimony from law enforcement, judges and those who deal with DUI on a daily basis during a joint public hearing of the House Transportation and Judiciary committees in Philadelphia. It was a very informative hearing.

Workforce development is a top priority. Today I participated in a joint public hearing at Philadelphia City Hall on workforce development efforts in the city. I take the information received at these hearings and apply it to what we can do here at home.

Today, I participated in a tour of the Philadelphia Navy Shipyard with the House Transportation Committee. It was a fascinating learning experience.

As a member of the House Professional Licensure Committee, I attended a public hearing today to gather testimony on proposed legislation - HB 789 - designed to codify existing Department of Health regulations which requires that a physician supervise administration of anesthesia.

High school students should graduate with the basic civics knowledge to become engaged citizens in the United States.

This afternoon, Rep. Harry Readshaw and I discussed with Mayor Depretis and officer Hagan their efforts to deter and prevent crime in Baldwin Borough through a new video surveillance project.

In testimony yesterday before the House Judiciary Committee Hearing on Gun Safety, I discussed how my proposed bills would bolster school safety by ensuring that school buildings throughout the state are better protected in the event of a shooting incident.

Today, I met with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Leslie Richards, District Executive Cheryl Moon-Sirani, Senator Jim Brewster, Rep. Paul Costa, and County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to evaluate the landslide on Route 30.

At today’s Transportation Committee hearing on local radar, we heard testimony from local government and state police on HB2148 and SB 251. Both proposals attempt to authorize local radar in varying ways.
