So let's keep up the conversation we were having for the break on what's next about health healthcare care we we know know Center Center Republicans Republicans wanna wanna move move on on but but in in the the House House there there maybe maybe a a little little bit bit of of movement movement on on this this I I wanna wanna bring bring in into to lawmakers lawmakers who who are are pushing pushing a a bipartisan bipartisan plan plan congressman congressman Tom Tom Democrats Democrats in in New New York York and and congressman congressman Ryan Ryan costello costello Republican Republican from from Pennsylvania Pennsylvania members members of of the the self self titled titled problem problem solvers solvers caucus caucus gentleman gentleman thank thank you you for for being being here here I I appreciate appreciate it it and and I I wanna wanna put put up up a a full full screen screen here here talking talking about about some some of of the the key key points points in in the the plan plan it's it's been been unveiled unveiled by by your your caucus caucus this this week week so so number number one one I I would would give give Congress Congress control control of of cost cost sharing sharing reduction reduction payments payments stars stars we've we've been been talking talking a a lot lot about about repeal repeal the the medical medical device device tax tax which which is is not not very very popular popular it it would would just just the the employer employer mandate mandate from from 50 50 to to 500 500 employees employees that's that's kinda kinda the the fact fact the the case case right right here here is is the the spokesman spokesman for for Speaker Speaker Ryan Ryan had had to to say say as as you you have have probably probably seen seen while while the the Speaker Speaker appreciates appreciates members members coming coming together together to to promote promote ideas ideas he he remains remains focused focused on on repealing repealing and and replacing replacing Obama Obama care care frankly frankly sounds sounds to to me me like like a a little little bit bit of of a a brush brush off off guys guys we we talked talked to to leadership leadership about about this this so so Ryan Ryan if if you you wanna wanna go go first first talk talk about about trying trying that that be be find find shore shore leadership leadership is is aware aware of of what what the the proposal proposal is is first first and and foremost foremost I I can can appreciate appreciate where where House House leadership leadership is is still still focused focused on on the the broader broader health health care care reform reform proposal proposal that that did did not not pass pass uh uh the the Senate Senate and and so so therefore therefore could could not not come come back back to to the the House House but but intimately intimately we we have have to to deal deal with with the the fact fact that that the the individual individual and and small small group group insurance insurance marketplace marketplace is is deteriorating deteriorating before before our our eyes eyes and and the the Sea Sea are are the the as as ours ours excuse excuse me me when when the the President President threatens threatens to to withhold withhold that that what what that that does does is is it it does does not not allow allow insurance insurance companies companies to to offer offer to to low low and and Middle Middle income income American American the the type type of of health health insurance insurance packages packages that that they they need need in in order order to to purchase purchase insurance insurance so so there there has has to to be be something something needs needs to to be be done done in in the the short short term term so so the the problem problem solvers solvers caucus caucus has has stepped stepped up up to to do do that that I I don't don't think think that that displaces displaces what what the the speakers speakers ambitions ambitions may may pay pay what what we're we're looking looking to to do do is is address address the the here here and and now now of of the the problem problem so so sounds sounds like like comes comes we we are are trying trying to to supplemented supplemented essentially essentially the the commonsense commonsense was was let let me me ask ask you you this this there there are are some some on on your your side side of of the the aisle aisle who who believe believe resisting resisting or or essentially essentially pushing pushing against against some some of of these these plans plans is is the the way way to to go go have have you you found found any any kind kind of of support support broadly broadly I'm I'm on on Democrats Democrats in in the the House House for for this this we we have have people people in in America America are are desperate desperate for for Democrats Democrats and and Republicans Republicans to to work work together together to to actually actually solve solve problems problems are are sick sick of of the the partisan partisan ship ship the the sick sick of of the the sniping sniping these these are are serious serious life life and and death death issues issues people people are are freaking freaking out out when when it it comes comes to to the the issue issue of of healthcare healthcare throughout throughout our our country country and and we we gotta gotta work work together together to to try try and and solve solve problems problems and and Ryan Ryan and and I I know know that that the the other other 40 40 members members of of the the problem problem solvers solvers caucus caucus know know that that and and I I think think quite quite frankly frankly the the leadership leadership on on both both sides sides knows knows that that as as well well we we just just need need to to help help bring bring this this forward forward to to get get the the leadership leadership on on both both sides sides recognize recognize this this is is what what the the American American people people want want they're they're sick sick of of the the sniping sniping the the sick sick of of the the one one party party says says this this at at this this extreme extreme the the other other party party says says that that extreme extreme and and we we don't don't anything anything giving giving one one of of things things done done I I hear hear we're we're saying saying we're we're respect respect without without that that is is what what I I think think we we hear hear a a lot lot of of times times from from members members on on both both sides sides down down but but the the House House in in the the Senate Senate and and yet yet here here we we are are you you know know August August first first and and nothing nothing has has actually actually happened happened on on healthcare healthcare so so realistically realistically what what makes makes you you think think that that this this time time is is gonna gonna be be different different kinds kinds was was that's that's what what the the problem problem solvers solvers is is doing doing is is so so big big I I mean mean this this is is a a major major step step forward forward with with the the Republicans Republicans have have put put themselves themselves on on the the line line in in the the problem problem solvers solvers caucus caucus the the Democrats Democrats are are the the problem problem solvers solvers caucus caucus have have put put themselves themselves on on the the line line we we got got a a block block of of 40 40 votes votes we we are are we we say say we we wanna wanna work work together together to to do do things things in in the the Middle Middle to to try try and and solve solve these these problems problems from from the the left left there there pushing pushing for for universal universal health health care care on on the the right right there there pushing pushing for for repeal repeal you you don't don't get get government government out out of of here here we're we're saying saying listen listen it's it's not not gonna gonna work work with with just just one one side side doing doing it it we we need need to to work work together together that's that's what what ryan's ryan's doing doing that's that's what what I'm I'm doing doing so so you you have have 40 800 40 800 that that stuff stuff still still I I mean mean well well this this is is hot hot button button stuff stuff here here and and we we know know that that we we have have a a problem problem right right now now we've we've been been meeting meeting for for quite quite sometime sometime in in anticipation anticipation that that this this may may for for that that the the broader broader health health care care reform reform package package the the Republicans Republicans have have put put forward forward fail fail so so we're we're not not just just talking talking the the talk talk we're we're not not just just talking talking about about let's let's work work together together let's let's all all get get along along like like this this is is a a serious serious proposal proposal that that would would stabilize stabilize the the health health insurance insurance marketplace marketplace this this year year which which needs needs to to be be done done where where we're we're also also looking looking to to repeal repeal the the medical medical device device tax tax which which we we feel feel is is a a major major major major contribution contribution to to medical medical innovation innovation in in this this country country the the other other thing thing that that I I think think is is also also very very important important as as we we talk talk about about selling selling insurance insurance across across state state lines lines well well that that was was proposed proposed within within the the affordable affordable care care act act has has never never offered offered up up relations relations in in order order to to do do that that so so we we are are really really trying trying to to kick kick start start um um health health care care reform reform in in this this country country and and I I think think it it needs needs to to be be anchored anchored from from the the Middle Middle outward outward the the one one of of the the big big problem problem with with the the affordable affordable care care act act if if I I may may say say leaving leaving aside aside the the the the legislative legislative point point of of it it is is Republicans Republicans never never felt felt that that they they were were at at the the table table for for that that it it was was it it was was very very much much a a political political victory victory for for the the Obama Obama administration administration much much the the same same as as they've they've Republican Republican plan plan that that was was moved moved to to the the House House and and over over to to the the Senate Senate was was very very much much a a political political um um movement movement within within Republican Republican circles circles we we are are trying trying to to get get the the confidence confidence of of the the American American people people and and in in doing doing what what we're we're doing doing here here okay okay do do you you have have the the confidence confidence in in the the President President because because he's he's gonna gonna be be a a key key player player and and whatever whatever happens happens here here if if you you had had a a conversation conversation with with the the White White House House about about it it he he is is threatening threatening his his administration administration is is threatening threatening to to stop stop see see us us ours ours with with all all those those payments payments we we you you know know know know that that you you don't don't agree agree with with that's that's appointed appointed ryan's ryan's making making is is that that the the individual individual market market dress dress in in serious serious trouble trouble the the President President saying saying things things that that are are very very helpful helpful related related to to the the individual individual market market and and we're we're trying trying to to save save the the individual individual marketplace marketplace is is part part of of this this compromise compromise that that we're we're talking talking about about I I think think the the President President you you have have to to get get the the President President on on board board to to do do that that we we will will have have to to do do that that but but she she the the here here let's let's do do this this the the President President will will see see that that the the public public is is in in favor favor of of us us working working together together like like this this he's he's obviously obviously a a student student politically politically he's he's gonna gonna see see that that this this is is what what the the public public wants wants we've we've taken taken the the step step this this is is the the first first step step we we think think it's it's gonna gonna keep keep on on moving moving cuz cuz this this is is what what the the people people want want congressman congressman agree agree that that I I don't don't grow grow up up I I don't don't agree agree with with the the President President when when he he starts starts threatening threatening with the stars I mean that is extremely disruptive and would hurt American families and so what we're trying to do is move that over to congressional oversight and the appropriations process so you don't have president's deciding whether they're gonna do that or not uh this is a moment in time where I hope Americans will rally and call their representatives to get behind this plan the Tom and I
