Hello everyone uh we're here at the Navy memorial where chef Jose andres and his team at the world Central kitchen have stood up this up up uh lunch place for folks who are federal employees federal contractors there families and kids can come and get a free meal whether it's lunch or or before they had hope for dinner because we have uh over 800000 federal employees who are either followed we're not uh able to go to work and they're not getting paid and others who are To go to work as essential employees but are not getting paid of who are having trouble now going on 26 days without pay uh figuring out how they're gonna pay the bills how they're gonna pay the rent or the mortgage or hospital bills or put food on the table so uh world Central kitchen deploys to uh natural disasters all over the world they came to hawaii uh in tuna where so many families and homes uh we're struggling because they were devastated by the volcano eruption uh and they were there Food they were serving food in Puerto Rico after the storm uh serving food and in countries around the world so I'm so glad they're here because they're helping to uh provide food to people bring smiles to their faces as we work in Congress to try to end this shutdown the House of representatives has passed bipartisan legislation and funding to reopen the government uh it is up to senator mitch mcconnell in the Senate as well as President trump to get it done and end the shutdown now
