What a fantastic tour of Hot Springs and the surrounding area yesterday with U.S. Department of the Interior Deputy Secretary Katherine MacGregor. We went mountain biking in Hot Springs National Park, toured historic Bathhouse Row, visited the Mona Lisa mine and discussed the many ways Congress and the Interior Department can work together to conserve our public and private land.
We also hosted a press conference by Lake Ouachita with SeaArk Boats, one of our hometown manufac...turers. SeaArk CEO Steve Henderson joined the Pledge to America's Workers, an initiative with more than 450 businesses who have pledged 16 million education and training opportunities for American workers over the next five years.
My thanks to Deputy Secretary MacGregor for spending the day in Arkansas and enjoying all the Natural State has to offer. You're welcome back anytime!
Yesterday I visited Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area with Ducks Unlimited and Congressman French Hill, where we discussed the importance of conserving Arkansas' flooded timber legacy. These areas are vital to waterfowl habitats and Arkansas’ economy, and we are always exploring new opportunities for public-private partnerships. This will allow us to steward our resources well for future generations to enjoy!
