If i could dislike a page, i would. Yeah yeah, its got great games but lets talk about how RUDE the chick thats always at the check out is. Cant even respect her customers enough to look at them shes lost in a game on her phone when they are asking for her assistance and then gets rude when she has to answer because she cant stand to take her eyes off her phone for one second to help. Will never come here again. No respect for the customers. See More

Great video game store and great prices! Got my Mario and Zelda for the GBA in Replay's back several months ago. I'll be back whenever I get the chance.

As a video game collector and game store owner myself, I've traveled quite some distance checking out various game stores, not to spy on the competition per se, but mostly just to shop around, and make a few friends while out and about. While in the area on business, I decided to stop in and have a look around. This is where the actual review starts...

Layout and Atmosphere - First impression was great. I received a warm greeting on the way in, and was asked in a friendly yet professional manner if I needed help finding anything. As I looked around, I noted everything in labeled sections, some perhaps a bit more organized than others (while some sections were alphabetized, others were not, which made me look a bit further to see if there was anything I wanted). I also noticed a couple displays were near a window, which caused some items to have faded labels...a bit unfortunate, as there was a fair bit of open space in there. Speaking of open space, it was quite breathable in there, not at all cluttered. The floors and shelves were quite clean. The one thing I noticed above all else, once the initial talking stopped, was how deafeningly quiet it was in there, as though it were a library. Some low- to mid-volume video game music would've been nice to break up the silence and add to the atmosphere. Also, it was quite warm in the store...but that may be the result of the large windows facing the sun in the early afternoon. Overall, not bad, but could be slightly better. 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Pricing - Prices were rather fair on the whole, especially on retro games, though some labels told a tale of not having been updated in a while, most notably on PS3 and Xbox 360 games, which had quite a few faded labels that I noticed. No big deal, as the prices were usually still less than GameStop and certain other independent game stores around. As a matter of fact, I can't rightly say I can remember seeing anything particularly overpriced...a rarity in this day and age, where high-priced flea market booths and independent game stores are becoming the norm. 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

Selection - This was one sticking point I had here. While the retro game prices were generally fair, the selection itself was rather hit or miss, with few popular titles such as Mario and Zelda, and almost as few other mid-level titles (though a very reasonably-priced Journey to Silius and Incredible Crash Dummies (both NES) were there). High-end retro titles were nowhere to be found (as a matter of fact, the highest-priced game I saw in the store was a copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at $49.99). Most of the last-gen and second-to-last-gen selection was solid, however...picked up a Cabela's Big Game Hunter: Pro Hunts for Wii U there, which is a rather difficult-to-find game out and about. Maybe I just caught them at a bad time? I don't know, and can't answer that. That said, being a game store owner myself, I do understand selection can vary widely from day to day, week to week, this sub-grade will reflect only what I saw...take it with a grain of salt, and be sure to stop in for yourself, as you may have better luck than I did. 2 1/2 stars out of 5.

Customer Service - This is where Replays shined. I did eventually strike up a conversation with the woman behind the counter, explaining a bit of who I was, and the things I was into. We eventually discussed what games we collect and such as that. I was quite disappointed hearing that Replays didn't deal with Neo-Geo or TurboGrafx games and systems, though I do understand why, as it's a niche market within the niche market of retro gaming, and often at very high prices. The cashier was very friendly and helpful overall. I told her I'd be leaving this review, and that the next time I was in Gadsden (which is 120 miles away from me, but distance doesn't always matter to me), I'd stop in again. 5 stars out of 5.

Overall - Replays is a throwback to several other chain stores I've been to in the past...thankfully, the good ones from ~10-20 years ago (Game X-Change, Rhino Video Games, etc.). Definitely deserves to be seen if you're anywhere in the vicinity. As I said in the previous section, I will return the next time I'm around. 5 stars out of 5.
