I switched to Rio Vista from another vet office that didn’t seem like they really cared about my pet . Rio Vista always gets us right in within a reasonable time frame and accommodates people who may... be working . The always call back the next day as say “just checking to see how he’s doing today” Really shows they care. Dr Dodds is extremely competent and exhibits extensive knowledge all while showing she cares about the pet. The staff has been friendly , greets with a smile no matter what day , what problem, how many questions , or how busy . The entire staff seem to care and show knowledge and expertise with what task they have. I never feel like my bill is jacked up unnecessarily . Yes pet services are never cheap but I always feel that the services that were rendered were necessary and reasonable for the essential treatment of my pet . Thank you to caring staff . Dr Dobbs,Terrie, Sherri, Rachael and anyone else I forgot . You are all very helpful and courteous . See More

Just returned from our 1st visit with our newly adopted grandcat, Jake. We were very happy with all the staff and especially Dr. B. the substitute vet on Monday and Tuesday. She reviewed Jake's compli...cated history and listened to us and our concerns. We hope to see her for Jake's follow-up care. Thank you Rio Vista! See More

We just had to put down our 9 year old black lab without much warning. It was one of the hardest things we've ever done. Dr. Dodds and the staff were phenomenal! The compassion that they showed us was... unprecedented. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a veterinarian. See More

We rescued a pup from a kill shelter and searched for affordable and quality vet care. We called Rio Vista and received a quote for $300-$350 for shots and neutering. Also, they stated that since he... was a rescue, they would wave the office call. We made the appointment and took him down this morning. Thank God, we did not sign the paper. The quote at the bottom was $650-$950! Really? We are good people trying to do the right thing. No wonder people are scared to rescue. Unreal! See More

Thank you to the staff that met me there on a Sunday afternoon to take care of my precious Bulldog Nicky who passed at 3 am this morning. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the sweet woman who assist...ed me, however I want to thank you for being so kind, understanding and warm. Leaving Nicky was the hardest thing to do, but I felt comforted knowing he was in good hands. Thank you again See More

Rio Vista has been my "go to" place for all of our animals. We're 5 min from there. Dr Scudder has been phenomenal with our animals.
Shortly before Christmas however, I had a bad experience. I brough...t my cat in for grooming which I have done before. I figured $50 -$60 They asked if she was up to date on her shots which I was unsure of as she had a procedure done at a different office, (because their center did not offer the specific procedure) I, of course was all about her being current so they said they'd call the other office. They also had me sign a paper to accept the charges--- This should have been my first warning sign. They ended up giving her 2 shots, one necessary- the other was the expensive one- feline lukemia. My cat is strickly indoor. They didn't ask or attempt to call me. They also had the Dr give her a physical which I honestly question as to whether this was even done. Final bill when I picked her up, $202!!! When I questioned the charges, (after I pulled my lip up off the floor), especially the physical, the girl said, "as I explained to you when you signed the paper, you would accept all the charges!" She EXPLAINED nothing when I signed the paper. I really feel like I was scammed at my local vets office. I do not believe Dr. Scudder would ever approve of this charging frenzy practice they stuck me for. I do not like complaining but it has been eating at me and the more I think about it, I believe other customers should know too. I've paid mega dollars for my pets for surgeries, etc., always received an average quote and expected the charges. This was obscene for what I took her in for. See More

I can't count the number of people I've met over the years who have been long term or emergency clients of Dr. Scudder who haven't offered up spontaneous kudos for Rio Vista in general or Dr. Scudder ...specifically. Earlier this week I ordered pizza and the young lady who delivered it commented that Dr. Scudder saved her dog. Human and animal medical care is predicated on reasonable and prudent action and response to injury or disease. I know that each case Dr. Scudder see's is weighed against the wealth of current literature and if there are even the most remote of concerns a referral to the most cutting edge specialists at Cornell for evaluation and treatment. Not only is Dr. Scudder a fantastic vet with years of care, experience, and skill; but he is also a man who's well aware that for most people the pets they bring to his care are family and our community is lucky to have him. Dr. Scudder has taken care of all my dogs and cats for the last 30 years. We never had any bad experiences or misdiagnosis the entire time. Our animals received the best care to be had anywhere, from... Doc and his excellent staff. All our pets lived to a ripe old age in comfort. We have also used their boarding services for our dogs and our daughters dogs. They have the cleanest facility around with regular exercise. Doc is the best! See More

Lad always drags me up the walk to see his friends at Rio Vista. Everyone cares about him and gives him lots of love. He goes there when we are out of town and for his grooming. Even on Christmas Eve ...we were able to talk to doctor Scudder when we thought we had a problem. Wouldn't go anywhere else. See More
