The Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker co-presented by the Paramount Arts Center & Ashland Youth Ballet
Ashland, KY - Captivating thousands of audiences across the United States for the past 25 years, the Moscow Ballet once again visits Ashland, KY on December 7, 7:30 PM at the Paramount Arts Center in The Great Russian Nutcracker. The performance co-presented by the Paramount Arts Center and the Ashland Youth Ballet has become a bi-annual event for the two arts organi...zations. The performance offers the best of the best in artistry and production. The virtuosity of the 40 plus member Russian troupe coupled with the eager enthusiasm of the 60 member local cast gives a unique experience to dancers and audiences alike. The pageantry, precision, and production aesthetics are astounding and will leave the audience spellbound.
The local cast auditioned in early October for placement in the December 7 event. Dancers from a three hour regional radius attended the October 14 audition conducted by Alysa Bolotnikova, a ballerina and rehearsal coach for the Moscow. Ms. Bolotnikova placed dancers in the roles as party guests, mice, snowflakes, snow maidens, snow sprites as well as sentinels for each of the Act II variations—Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, Russian, and French. Dancers have adhered to a rigorous schedule of rehearsals in preparation for the performance. The Moscow Ballet is scheduled to arrive in Ashland around noon on December 7. The local cast will meet the company at that time as they go into costume fittings, rehearsal, and pre-show preparations.
The Great Russian Nutcracker is sponsored by Mrs. Margaret Adkins Charitable Trust, Marathon, Braidy Industries, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Kelley- Galloway, and the Kentucky Arts Council. Media sponsors include Kindred Communicaitons, KEE 100, B 97, TCR 103.3, WOWK – 13, WSAZ Newschannel 3, The Daily Independent, and The Greater Ashland Beacon.
The media is invited to join the Ashland Youth Ballet and the Moscow Ballet on show day. The company will be operating on the following tentative schedule:

Paramount Arts Center Presents An Evening With Emmylou Harris
Ashland, KY - October 25, 2017 - Emmylou Harris will be the final performer in the 2017-18 Kentucky Music Trail at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, KY on Friday, November 3 at 7:30 pm....
A 13- time Grammy winner and Billboard Century Award recipient, Emmylou Harris’ contribution as a singer and songwriter spans 40 years. She has recorded more than 25 albums and has lent her talents to countless fellow artists’ recordings. In recognition of her remarkable career, Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
Harris is known as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. Admired through her career for her talent as an artist and song connoisseur, Harris shook up country radio in the 1970s and established herself as the premiere songwriter of a generation selling more than 15 million records and garnering 13 Grammy Awards (this year she and Rodney Crowell won the Grammy for “Best Americana Album”) three CMA Awards, and two Americana Awards.
Harris is one of the most admired and influential women in music. She has recorded with such diverse artists as Linda Ronstadt, Daniel Lanois, Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Gram Parsons, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, Ryan Adams, Beck, Elvis Costello, Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett and most recently Rodney Crowell. Few artists have achieved such honesty or have revealed such maturity in their writing. Forty years into her career, Harris continues to share the hard-earned wisdom that – hopefully if not inevitably – comes with getting older, though she’s never stopped looking ahead.
A longtime social activist, Harris has lent her voice to many causes. She has performed at Lilith Fair, helping promote feminism in music and organizing several benefit tours to support the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. Harris is also an avid supporter of animal rights and is actively involved in Bonaparte’s Retreat, the dog rescue organization that she founded.
Tickets range from $55-$65 and can be purchased online at www.paramountartscenter.com, by visiting the box office at 1300 Winchester Avenue, Ashland, KY or by calling 606-324-0007.

Paramount Arts Center Presents The Tony Award Winning National Tour of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder
Ashland, KY - October 25, 2017 - The Paramount Arts Center will present the national tour of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder on Thursday, November 2 at 7:30 pm. All the while, Monty has to juggle his mistress (she’s after more than just love), his fiance (she’s his cousin, but who’s keeping track?) and the constant threat of landing behind bars! Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance…and be done in time for tea. The Hollywood Reporter raves, “GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE restores our faith in musical comedy” and The New York Times cheers “It will lift the hearts of all those who’ve been pining for what sometimes seems a lost art form.”
GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE is a multi-award winning show based on a novel by Roy Horniman and featuring book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak. It took home BEST MUSICAL awards from the Tony Awards, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Drama League. Kindly get your tickets now for the musical that will have you dying with laughter!
