FIREWORKS ENFORCEMENT (Friday Night Wrap-up)
Friday night’s firewo...rks enforcement teams consisted of over 50 personnel from the Police, Fire, and Code Enforcement departments who deployed throughout the entire city. They responded to 134 fireworks calls for service, handled 98 “311 Call Center” reports, conducted 37 extra patrols, contacted 60 homeowners, issued 21 citations, and confiscated approximately 170 pounds of illegal fireworks.
Our MVP for tonight’s efforts goes to the Code Enforcement Officers. They seized over 100 pounds of illegal fireworks from 3 separate locations. Now take a good look at what was recovered. These are the fireworks that are frightening our vulnerable children and adults, our pets, and our Veterans and anyone else with PTSD. These are the ones that make the loud explosive sounds that can be felt in our deaf community neighborhoods, and the ones that have a high risk of causing fires and injuries.
We anticipate the night of July 4th will be even more busy with fireworks calls and complaints, and we will have just as many officers, firefighters, and code enforcement officers patrolling our streets looking for those who choose to defy the local law. Fireworks are illegal in the city of Riverside with a minimum fine of $1,000 if observed.

One of our teams with Code Enforc...ement just caught a man about to light one of these illegal fireworks on Golden Avenue and Magnolia Avenue in the middle of the street. Now he gets a citation and his fireworks confiscated.

We are out once again with the Riverside Fir...e Department, Code Enforcement, and a whole bunch of officers and detectives to help combat the illegal fireworks issue in our city.
Please keep using the City of Riverside’s 311 Call Center mobile app, email, or number to report violations. Call our non-emergency number for in-progress violations, especially if you can pinpoint an exact address.
We are going to follow the enforcement teams around for a few hours tonight and show some of the results on our social media.
Remember, fireworks are illegal in the city of Riverside and can result in a minimum $1,000 fine if observed and caught.
