Sad day for our Brothers and Sisters in York PA.
Today’s Throwback Thursday goes back to 1961 with the Camp Shanks Chapel Fire. The chapel was located on the corner of Independence Avenue & Lester Drive in Orangeburg. The Camp Shanks monument is now located across the street on the Lester Drive side of the site. While we don’t know the exact date of the fire it is believed the fire occurred early on a Sunday morning as churchgoers were arriving for mass. The photos were taken by Charles “Chizz” Brizzolara and shared by his sons Tom & Dennis.

Please read this important update on New City Probationary Firefighter Will McCue.
Good evening, friends. This is a long, but important, post. Please take the time to read it in its entirety.
As we have been posting updates on Probationary F...irefighter Will McCue’s medical condition - he has been hospitalized suffering complications of the flu for many weeks- we have deliberately kept the exact nature of his condition as general as possible, respecting his family’s wishes as they saw Will through some very rough and scary days.
Will’s family now feels it is time to let people know just how hard a battle Will is continuing to fight. With their permission, we now post this update.
Originally suffering from the flu, he developed serious complications as he got sicker and sicker. The flu caused pneumonia, and that further caused issues with sepsis throughout his body. As his condition worsened, doctors were forced to take action to save Will’s life.
Will’s extremities began to suffer the effects of the sepsis and has had several surgeries, resulting in the following-
- Amputation of one hand at the wrist
- Amputation of his fingers, below the knuckle on his other hand.
- Amputation of both feet.
- Severe tissue damage to one leg.
- Organ issues.
As you can see, he has life changing issues that will need continuing care and therapy for an extended period. The good news is Will is showing several signs of improvement, he is conscious and aware of what’s happening. He is no longer on continual dialysis, and has been removed from his ventilator completely.
As Will continues to get better, there will be several fundraisers scheduled in the coming months. We will post information tomorrow on the first local one, to be held in April.
The GoFundMe account is still active and can be found here- https://www.gofundme.com/join-team-mccue-and-help-willy
We also plan to do whatever we can to support Will and his family make it through the upcoming days, weeks, and months. Any information on events will be posted here on the page.
Lastly, please keep Will and his family in your thoughts.
