We love the restaurant atmosphere, the mission behind their food and the food itself! After a couple years of The Root Cellar being our favorite date restaurant, we hired them to cater our wedding thi...s past August. The team did an absolutely fabulous job! The planning leading up to it was efficient, professional and very friendly and personal. The food was amazing, as always, the buffet looked nice and there was a wonderful selection for all our guests and their dietary needs. While we were on a tight budget, food was not a place we wanted to cut corners but have our guest enjoy a delicious dinner and leave full and happy. Not only are our guests still raving about the food, some of them have already gone back to eat at The Root Cellar Restaurant and others have now hired them to cater their future events. Thank you, Ellie, Paul and Jeff! See More

This place is a hidden find! It is not in downtown London. I was so impressed with this place! It reminds me of Lyfe Kitchen in Chicago.

Upon walking in, the restaurant is bright with colorful chalk...boards. While I looked at the menu, I was impressed with the diversity of food offered from vegan to meat eaters. I had the toasted cheese and tomato sandwich. It was so cheesey and toasted perfectly. I paired it with their toasted tomato soup. The finishing oil was everything! It gave such a buttery finish and the tomatoes were the perfect sweetness. I even tried a matcha drink with fresh mint and vanilla. They even serve alcohol!!

This was such a cool place and I can't wait to come back!!

It was so nice having a meal last night and not having to worry about my dairy intolerance. There was so much to choose from and I even had some left over for lunch today!

We had to wait for a table, that was absolutely on us for not making a reservation though and they worked quickly to find something available. It was 100% worth the wait, food was delicious, atmospher...e was great and the smells in there were superb.
Highly recommend that everyone check this place out, just be sure to make a reservation. I will definitely be back!

My wife and I hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner at the Root Cellar recently and couldn't be happier. We had about 22 guests including many vegans and vegetarians. The food is excellent as is the ser...vice. We received nothing but positive feedback from our guests, many who are Londoners, and indicated they'll be back!

Thank you Ellie and team for a wonderful dinner!

Haven't been so impressed by a restaurant in a long time. Its pricy, but there are options that are less. Pesto Aoli, the best grape jam I've ever had, locally sourced, fresh bread. And the fact that ...your washrooms arent gender specific genuinely made my day. See More

Placed an order to go. Food was excellent. However, I waited 40 minutes to get it, and I watched people who came in well after me sit down, make orders, and get their food before I got mine. At 25 ...minutes in I asked an employee about my order. Had I not, I suspect i would have waited longer. I was offered a free coffee for the long wait. However no one I dealt with really seemed to be too concerned with the time it took for me to get a simple wrap.

I also tipped up front. I would advise against this as one cannot be sure if the service will be good or not.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Locally sourced organic whole foods!! You can't put a price on good health. Another reason I love this place is thier ...vegan friendly menu that still includes a variety of meat and dairy for my non vegan lunch dates to enjoy. See More

It never disappoints, except when we can't get a seat. The new nachos are my new favourite, especially with the add on of pulled pork. The new deep fried pickles on the dinner menu are to die for; wou...ld pair really well with a cold brew. And the cider braised cabbage grilled cheese sandwich; OMG, die and go to heaven, delicious. Get on over and find your own favourite. See More

Firstly I'm going to state I have no issue with the food, it was delicious, secondly our waiter was super kind and personable. I've given 1 star because the moment I walked in I was greeted with a hos...tile stare, when I said my reservation it turned irritated, I was seated and told that my group needed to order as soon as possible so that we could be out at a certain time. We knew how long our reservation was for, but I personally found the hostess quite rude and pushy. We all ordered and it came on time, 1 of our group ordered dessert and I had to remind the staff it hadn't come yet, then another of our group arrived, no extra chair was offered for him to sit on, he was told he couldn't order because we had to leave in 30 mins. Then when we suggested he can just get it to go he was able to order but didn't receive his food until again the wait staff had to be reminded his food never came!. One of our group stood and chatted with everyone because no chair was offered.

I've never been to a restaurant that hasn't tried to accommodate their customers, I've worked in customer service for 10 years and I would suggest better training for staff to be more organized and personable. And please don't put someone who's stressed out and angry as your hostess. First impressions mean a lot, to a company. Your food could be fit for the queen but with unwelcoming staff people leave with a bad taste in their mouth.

We booked a reservation for an event and we're asked to leave 20 minutes before our reservation was over, even though there were many other spaces available and no one was there. We were made to feel ...unwanted and I will never host an event there ever again! They need to take a class in customer service. They have great food but the service is obnoxious! See More

Had a great dinner tonight! Wonderful service and delicious food and drinks! It was a little loud but there's not much to be done about that when it gets busy. We had the poutine, the veggie burger (b...est I've ever tasted!) and the spicy local sausage plate (the spicy sausage was perfectly paired with sweet potato!) Also loved the Heritage Wit brew - an excellent meal all together See More
BIG NEWS! Yesterday afternoon The Root Cellar's official taste tester Lola tried out our new autumn menu, and she's given us the go-ahead! With a messy chin and cheesy smile (in more than one way) our toughest customer loved the new Autumn Potato Gnocchi. It's the ultimate way to get all warm and cozy with roasted butternut squash, a (vegan) browned butter, and fresh sage to bring it all together. Don't believe that cheeky grin? Visit us TOMORROW THURSDAY SEP 22 for the launch of our new seasonal menu! It's packed to the brim with all of the season's best and heartiest delights. And don't forget to swing by tonight for a last taste of your summer favs before they are done for another year #EatYourRoots
