"Local water buffalo... that's a joke, right?"

Nope! We source our water buffalo from H.O.P.E. Eco Farms - located about 40 minutes away in Aylmer.

H.O.P.E. (which stands for Healthy Organic Produce Enterprises) is a collective of upwards of 30 small-scale organic farms in the Aylmer Amish community. They work together to grow and market their produce under one collective brand - by doing so they are able to have diversity in their product and support each other with their re...sources.

Well, spring seems to still be on the horizon.

While we sit here thinking about how climate change isn't real*, why not cozy up with a warm drink to sooth your soul?

The Orange You Glad Mocha was a winter favourite - warm and rich espresso from @planetbeancoffeeco paired with our house-made chocolate sauce (using fair-trade chocolate), your milk of choice, and finished off with bright notes of orange essence. It's the perfect drink to warm you up from your tongue to your... toes! Get it while it lasts (and while we wait for that springtime sun)

BIG NEWS! Yesterday afternoon The Root Cellar's official taste tester Lola tried out our new autumn menu, and she's given us the go-ahead! With a messy chin and cheesy smile (in more than one way) our toughest customer loved the new Autumn Potato Gnocchi. It's the ultimate way to get all warm and cozy with roasted butternut squash, a (vegan) browned butter, and fresh sage to bring it all together. Don't believe that cheeky grin?
