Today's Rootin Tootin Boutique post is bittersweet. The first part is to announce the closing of our business. A lot of changes have taken place over the past three years since the passing of my beloved husband and artisan, Arlie Garrett.

I want to express how grateful I am to each and every one of you for your ongoing support. Many of you have been customers since the cowboy boot purse part of our business got off the ground in 2006. Some of you may have just recently heard... about us, and if so, I want to say, "Welcome!"

Why "Welcome!"? Because the second part of this post is to let you know Rootin Tootin Boutique will soon reopen with a new name under new ownership!

I'm excited that in just a few months, someone close to Arlie, me, and our cowboy boot purses, both before and since his death, will continue his legacy of making quality cowboy boot purses.

I hope you all will watch this page for the reopening announcement in the near future! And if you have any special memories of Rootin Tootin Boutique, please leave your comments below. Thank you!

Blessings to you all,
Debby Garrett

Met the man at the Craftsman show in Richmond in 2014. We bought almost 1 of each item and those were the gifts we gave for Christmas. The girls still use and love the bags, I use the Wine bottle h...older and everyone wants to know where we got it. See More

I have 2 of Rootintootinboutique purses! They are the BEST purses I have EVER had. I have had mine for close to 10 years (if not a bit longer). They look as good as they did the day I got them. Arlie ...was still with his wife and they were "building" purses together when I bought mine. I have loved my "Art" purses for about 10 years. They have survived VERY welI... I take care of them and they take care of me! They are beautiful pieces of ART that serve a wonderful purpose! I have not used another purse since I got these. I am truly addicted to them. I wish I could thank Arlie and his wife for the pleasure I have gotten from my (our) purses! If they could only see the joy I have gotten from the love of their art! Thank you SO much! I feel blessed to have met Arlie and his wife... they are truly wonderful! Thanks to you both! See More

The first time I ever saw a purse from boots was a few years ago. My aunt had one and I absolutely loved it. Went to the Craftsman show in Greensboro, NC a few weekends ago and there were Arlie and De...bby selling the very same purses. I was so excited! I didn't buy, but went home and searched them on facebook. I couldn't get this awesome purse out of my head, so back I went the next day to make a purchase. I chose one that is caramel color and I love it more everyday. The pictures on facebook are great, but seeing them in person makes all the difference. They are so much more beautiful than you could ever imagine. No buyers remorse here. I have been stopped by people every day I've carried it. It's a true conversation piece. Thrilled with my purchase. Thank you Arlie and Debby. Hope to see you again in NC!! See More

It's time to announce the winner of the Rootin Tootin Boutique 2018 SURPRISE NEW YEAR'S GIFT PACKAGE OF 3 ITEMS, pictured below!

But first, a little history...

Item #1: In January 2015, Arlie was busy making purses for our March shows. The floor around him was piled high with boot scraps to be thrown away. I noticed one in particular, picked it up, and said, "I'd love this as a bookmark, and I bet others would, too, if you sewed around the edges for a finished look. They woul...d appeal to men as well as women, and you could add crystals for those of us ladies who like our bling! Plus, you could sign them." He was excited to have something new to work on, and got busy making them right away...

Item #2: As we were looking through the scrap pile for pieces to make bookmarks, one of us said, "I wonder if old pulls could be used to make key fobs?" We talked about different ways to make them, ordered hardware, & he experimented with several ideas. Soon, he was making key fobs, another item appealing to men as well as women. As always, he added crystals to some of them for us ladies who like our bling! Alas, they are not signed, but he made every one!

Item #3: And last, for many years, we've bought & sold a variety of cowboy character wine corks to sell at our shows. This one, winking, is appropriately named, "Old Flirt!"

And now, the winner of the 2018 Rootin Tootin Boutique SURPRISE NEW YEAR'S GIFT is...

MELODY CORBIN!!!

Congratulations, Melody! I couldn't find any hog jowls in my area, but they sure sound tasty! To claim your prize, simply comment on this post and share it with all your FB friends! Then email me at Info@RootinTootinBoutique.com with your shipping address to receive your gift package!

1) Which foods you eat for luck on New Year's Day...
2) Why you think they're lucky...

...

(Not required to enter, but if you have one, please share your best 'G' rated New Year's story.)

EXAMPLE: We always eat black eyed peas for luck on New Year's Day. They supposedly represent money due to their coin-like size. New Year's Story: We were driving through Georgia one New Year's Day, headed for home. It was lunch time, and we were both hungry for black-eyed peas. We stopped at a little roadside mom & pop country store/filling station, and much to our surprise, they were serving complimentary black-eyed peas AND cornbread to anyone who came by on New Year's Day! How's that for luck AND southern hospitality! 😋
