On January 17, 2018 I was notified being “nominated as a Champion of Diversity" for the upcoming Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Awards. This is an amazing hon...our being in a category where there has been many inspirational winners over the past 15 years, a great example of this for me is Ken Herar who has been an inspiration for many throughout the Fraser Valley and beyond.

Today a huge number of the Abbotsford Community and Bradner Community came together to remember and honour our dear friend Jack Dospital. The Celebration of Lov...e Life was truly moving and certainly showed the love, mischievous moments, humour and musical talent that Jack brought into his and our lives. Our community lost a very special man that gave back so much to the community, asking for nothing in return except a smile!! We miss you Jack!!

This morning the Rotary Abbotsford-Sumas Club held its meeting at the Crossroads Restaurant. The club is searching for a new location after the three Rotary Clu...bs lost their meeting place right after Christmas due to closure. Past President Thomas asked his “butler” to open the meeting due to none of the equipment being available on site.

As a Charter Member and a Past Director of ARPSES, this morning it was a “home coming” for me. The Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Sumas visited the Abbotsford Ravine... Park Salmon Enhancement Society Hatchery where we were welcomed by Dave Taylor who spoke to the club members about the positive environmental impact of the program. Local schools are involved in Salmonides in the classroom program and the facility serves as an educational resource for students and the community. Each year 30,000 to 80,000 coho salmon eggs are harvested and on Mother’s Day each year, salmon fry are released into the Abbotsford streams by children and their Mothers!! As a not for profit society, our club members showed keen interest in future projects with ARPSES.
