A reminder that Rutland Police have reported numerous break-ins to cars around Rutland Water over the last few weeks, including 3 here at the nature reserve. Windows have been smashed and bags on seats stolen.
PLEASE be vigilant and help the police to help you by not leaving anything on display.
Sadly this sort of crime is nothing new, but it is particularly prevalent right now. Stay safe.

http://www.ospreys.org.uk/down-to-two/

The week started out like any other, however, last night the third and smallest chick started to deteriorate, and this morning it was clear that it had died. The third chick hatched two days after its youngest sibling, which made it obviously smaller than the older two. Despite this all three chicks...

The first rain shower of the day has just started in Manton Bay, lucky it’s only a fine drizzle, the wind is still and it’s mild, hopefully, this means it won’t be too miserable up on the Manton Bay nest this evening.

This morning started out beautifully, the sunrise was something of a masterpiece with bright yellow light, slashing through the deep purple cloud; Maya used this sunrise setting to feed her three chicks, ensuring they all got at least a little bit of fish.
