Hello Students,

On October 10th, as a part of World Space Week, both CASI Ryerson and Ryerson Space Society are proud to present an opportunity to interact with... industry professionals and peers.

From 6:00pm to 7:00pm Ryerson Space Society will be hosting a space panel discussing the changing environment in space.
Followed by a debate, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, on the basis of pros and cons of space exploration hosted by CASI Ryerson. The overall best argument will be given a reward! If you are interested in participating in the debate please fill out the following Google form:

https://goo.gl/forms/DKjJjm2thxA3VWHq1

We will also be joined by the following experts:
- Eric Choi, Senior Business Development Manager at Magellan Aerospace
- Josh Newman, Systems Engineer at Canadensys Aerospace Corporation
- Michelle Mendes, Executive Director of the Canadian Space Commerce Association (CSCA) and Board Member of the Space Advisory Board
- Adam Trumpour, Concept Designer at Pratt & Whitney Canada and liquid rocket propulsion engineer

There will also be complimentary food and beverages. The event will be located at the Ryerson University Student Learning Centre (SLC508). Please bring your $2 registration fee to the CASI office (KHE040A).

Hello Engineers!

CanSat is a student-run team that competes in Texas every year. CanSat is short for can sized satellite. The objective of the competition changes from year to year. For example, last year the objective was to build a glider with solar panels, that glider was launched to 700m and transmitted data throughout the flight on the way down. This year the objective is to simulate the landing of a space probe by incorporating heat shields into the design, and landing... strategies which would leave an egg intact once it is released from the rocket.

For more information about the competition: http://www.cansatcompetition.com/index.html

Our structures sub-team builds and design the CanSat and container, and our electronics team designs the circuit board with all the sensors incorporated in the CanSat.

If you are looking to get involved outside of class, CanSat will give you real hands-on engineering experience.

Come out to our new member orientation for more details and future meetings!
