My husband and I traveled 1,450 miles in December to get to Mitchell SD. While we were there, The Corn Palace was on the list of things to do.... Although, we didn't get to go inside, we got plenty o...f pictures of the outside!! It is unusual and absolutely amazing what they can do with corn... It's beautiful art work!! I would definitely return!!! See More

Attempted to take my family to see this and despite all the doors being unlocked and signs everywhere saying "come in and check us out" my kids were yelled at by an incredibly rude man on a power trip.... Guess they were closed and couldn't be bothered to post it or lock their doors. Guy on power trip was very rude, left me with a bad impression of Mitchell in general, and made sure we have no desire to return. See More

My husband & I have stopped in twice on our road trips. Maybe it is our farming background but we think this is great. The art is wonderful. Take the time to view the historic pictures and understand the art is created. I know haters gonna hate but I am amazed at the number of bad reviews. I think maybe our expectations are all a little too grand. Nothing wrong with simple. Nice little area to have a picnic lunch right out front or plenty of places to grab a quick meal in the area. There was more there than we expected! We figured you could get a pic of the outside and that was about it- but you can go in, they have concessions, restrooms and a huge gift shop on the arena floor.... The block surrounding has little shops and an ice cream shop. It was a nice stop to stretch your legs, go to the restroom and take a break from being on the road. See More

Despite what people around my age have said on here, its actually fairly impressive, simply from a history and art perspective. Don't think of it as "corn glued to the wall", think about the images th...ey've made with the corn, and how long they've been doing these grandiose corn artworks. See More

It was pretty stupid. I can appreciate the art on the outside of the building. (I sure couldn't do it). But it's just a regular building with corn glued, screwed, or waterever to the outside. I expecting something built largely with corn. The inside was lame with the art, and gift shop. People actually spend money at this place? Only reason I wasn't pissed off was because it cost us no money, and very little time as it was only a few mins off the highway.

In 10 years I'll be laughing with my kids that we actually wasted time going here. Never again.

It was entertaining for the kids, although it's extremely old and outdated. Hopefully they can keep raising money and make some upgrades. We were on a long road trip and it's free (make a donation) so... a good place to stop and stretch. At the end of the day how often can you check in at a "Corn Palace". See More

It was a very interesting building and they change the grain art by artists drawing an outline of future art on the building labeled with color and grain. It was very cool

This was a fun place would love to stop by again. I️ am amazed at the pictures made with just corn cobs, the detail was impressive.

Terrible. Said it was open til 9, we showed up at 7 and everything was closed except the building. No staff to be seen, no exhibits open, all stores and kids area closed. If you're going to say you're... open til 9, be open til 9. We waisted 3 hours round trip. Yuck. See More

I would agree with others. Advertisement for this should be: civic center uniquely decorated with corn. It's not a "corn palace" by any means, none the less the art was very cool.

Fun attraction especially if you like the smell of popcorn. It is one of those tourist spots you should not miss. You can then have bragging rights to say you saw the worlds biggest monument to corn.

it is nice, the old corn palace was much better, the corn palace most people remember and love, As it is now it does not even look like the corn palace.

Great place to get off the highway and stretch, find some souvenirs, have something to eat and drink and learn about history. Cool place and admission is free.

I get into the creative hands that put together such extrodinary murals! To see the array of people who proformed on the stages of the Palace dating back to the 1800, just amazing. So many memories.

Really unusual and creative thing to see. Town is cute & area is very Norman Rockwellian. Corn Palace Festival has the Main streets closed down and is happening Aug 25-27. We plan on hitting it up on ...our way back east! See More

The Palace is in the process of change or replacing the stamps outside of the building and they have a construction on the side. But don't let that stop you because it is still a great adventure.

Very neat to see all the past designs & the time & effort & creativity of the colored corn designs. Great gifts inside & be sure to try out the fresh squeeze lemonade at the store across the street!
