SIEGEBREAKER is no longer.
To protect the guys' families & their livelihoods, the band has basically been forced into being dismantled. Both of my ex-bandmates were put into a situation, through no fault of their own, to choose between their families' well-being and future, or the band. It was an obvious choice and the right choice to make. I do not fault them one tiny bit for their decision.
We acheived a lot in a relatively short amount of time. We wrote over 16 songs, rele...ased multiple singles and then an amazing CD that has received incredible responses. We were unlike any other band on the East Coast - aggressive, brutal yet catchy music, thought-provoking lyrical themes and we weren't drug addicted alchoholics, pretending to be cool. I am damn proud of it all.
Luckily, we are all friends and will remain as such. They are great guys and it was a blast playing music with them!
*So, here's what the future holds*
-I'm going to either start a new band or join an existing one. Writing & playing music with other people is my very life's blood and I'll never stop playing Metal.
-Anyone who bought a pre-order bundle will of course be getting it. The shirts will be coming soon and the CDs will be numbered and signed this weekend. We will be in touch!
-CDs are $6, available from me & Gavin and soon around town at music stores.
-I will be contacting every newspaper and media outlet in Canada about the banning & threats. Two outlets have already replied back. Our story will be heard!
-Serious legal action against the venue for breach of contract is now being discussed.

The band had really just found it's niche and sound, only to have "Social Justice Warriors" end it by threatening the very future of it's members for being in a band that had something thought-provoking to say. To attack people's families in the real world for a post on the internet that was not attacking anyone is alarming, dangerous and wrong. Attacking, banning, threatening and harassing is never the right choice.
Pandora's Box has just been opened by the forces who choose to SHUTDOWN freedoms. Where this will eventually end up is the great mystery, so stay tuned!

What a crazy past 24 hours.
Since I am the only lyricist in the band, the other guys have really no say in what I'm singing about. They are good guys who probably disagree with much of what I sing about, and they deserve to not take the fall for my actions. They are not to blame in any way.
Not once have I ever written a lyric for SIEGEBREAKER with the intent to offend, push, intimidate or demean. I literally write lyrics for my own mental therapy, as singing words I've writt...en is a huge thing for me. It's catharsis.
I willingly apologize to my ex-bandmates that have had to endure endless threats, pressure and scare tactics from those who felt the need to take their grievances from the internet to the real world.
No one ever in the band ever had a say in what I sang about. Ever. Do not condemn them for just being in a band with me.

PS. Both other bandmates have chosen to leave the band due to personal attacks aimed at both their families and employment over comments and opinions that were not their own and had no control over. The safety of their families are a primary concern for all of us and cannot be compromised due to this matter.

Reading this, I think age in music gives you a different perspective on performing. As a younger player I wanted to emulate my idols and out-do other players and reinvent the wheel; as you get older I have found it much easier to accept myself as a player, my own style, my strengths and weakness as a musician. Once you figure out "this is me" as a musician, I have found it opens you up as a player to explore what works best instead of what looks cool is trendy or pushes the envelope; I'm lucky to now be making the best music I've ever been involved in. I don't know if it is related but I find many of the old-guard of the big Metal bands are also putting out some of their best material even 30 years down the road. - Gavin
