You will certainly be missed, good sir. Thank you for your service, and we're all better for having known you.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to deliver this sad news this morning. My good friend, mentor, fellow Veteran, and Mustang enthusiast Russell Huggins passe...d away this morning at 4:11 am. Russell had been fighting a losing battle with Leukemia for the past year. When he lost a step, he got a cane to keep up with all the carshows and gatherings with his follow car enthusiast friends. He didn't miss many and was always a perennial favorite when it came to awards time. He didn't let the disease get him down and fought the good fight to the bitter end. He lost his beloved wife last year and had been struggling with blood platelet transfusions several times a week for the last few months but continued to make as many auto events as he could. The transfusions finally became too much for him last week and he decided end them. He passed quietly in his sleep.
Russell was retired from the U.S. Air Force and a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran. His pride and joy over the last number of years was his 1965 Mustang Coupe. He spent a lot of time and money as he poured his heart into that Mustang to make it shine like a new penny and run like a top. He accomplished that mission with pride.
Russell was my Hero. I always tell people I want to be like Russell and taking my Mustang to car shows when I'm 80 years old. Russell would have been 84 years young in April. His birthday was around the same time as the original 1965 Ford Mustang's birthday which I always thought was fitting. I will inform Club members and friends when the service and arrangements will be.
It's been a crazy 48 hours!!!
So much automotive news today! First the Ranger and now this!
What say you, SMAF-ers? The 2018 Mustang GT can 'schedule' its exhaust volume.
Cool tech...? Or over the top?
