https://www.gofundme.com/nicoles-final-arrangements The body of the trans woman found in White Rock Creek in Dallas has finally been identified. Nicole Hall, suspected death by suicide. Locals close to her say she loved Beyonce, was independent, courageous, and humble. Her and her mother Fannie provided refuge to other trans women needing a safe place to stay. With no life insurance, a GoFundMe has gone up today to handle her final arrangements (link above). Let us carry her name among the all too many in our hearts as we dare to destroy the racist and patriarchal system that aims to destroy us body and soul. As we come together in mourning, let's have the guts to come together in battle. #restinpower #remembranceisinthestreets #staymilitant

Defend Our Hoodz - Defiende El Barrio - Austin has carried the boycott against Blue Cat Cafe to a successful conclusion, but the boycott on the property continues.

This is what the people can do when we organize along militant revolutionary lines! No city official or NGO representative would have dared lead this struggle in this way. They would have argued for compromise & negotiation with the fascist, gentrifier haven that Blue Cat was. Instead, DOH refused to compromise and shut it down!

The Blue Cat Café has officially closed. The site of a three-year anti-gentrification struggle, the gentrifying business could not remain profitable at East Cesar Chavez area thanks to the militant resistance of local community members led by revolutionary organization Defend Our Hoodz.

StartOut thinks the answer to LGBT oppression and discrimination is just to make more rich queer and trans people, but what the hell is that doing for the rest of us? All these LGBT entrepreneurs and business owners are still out here gentrifying our neighborhoods and pricing us out our homes just the same as anyone else!

LGBTQ non-profit StartOut is just one of dozens of companies looking to rainbow-wash imperialism and capitalism. The NGO was originally formed to combat LG...BT discrimination in the business world and has evolved into a machine for helping LGBT capitalists to exploit the working class both as business owners and as gentrifiers. Their major donors include some of the biggest investment banks in the US, including Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Citigroup, as well as tech companies Google and eBay.

Austin is one of six U.S. cities that StartOut works in, all of which are entrenched in major gentrification struggles. Austin doesn't need anymore LGBT startups or real estate agents or investment firms. Our LGBT communities don't need anymore rich "community leaders," these people will never be able to solve our problems because they are the source of them! Their participation in capitalism will continue to pave the way for community displacement, gentrification, and poverty. Diversity in wealth will never be the answer. We need organization and power for working class LGBT people!

StartOut out of Austin!
