Do you spend a majority of your time at work as a task-oriented tactician, or do you think and operate strategically, like leaders do? Join us for this live web session on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 @2:00 PM CST. http://bit.ly/2sgL3RN

The first step in advocacy is to be better informed about the issues," says Irma Khan in this week's SWE Advocate Profile. Registration for SWE's Congressional Outreach Day closes soon - check out the blog for Khan's profiles and registration details. http://bit.ly/2ErDoVB

Leading up to SWE’s Congressional Outreach Day in March, SWE will feature profiles of our members who act as advocates for fellow women in engineering.

SWE has been my constant through job changes, motherhood, promotions, and a cross-country move. I know that no matter where I am, I have a network of women who “get” and support me in my pursuit of en...gineering excellence, provide me with high quality outreach opportunities, and be lifelong friends. SWE is an amazing organization where I've made some of my best friends, and they do so much important work. They contribute research to help us answer the complicated questions around why there aren't... more women in engineering, instead of shrugging off the statistics as "that's the way it is". SWE is a force, moving the field of engineering forward. I am proud to be a lifetime member! See More

Thank you to the millionth. The frustrations I have with even trying to converse with the general public has created blisters in my forehead. I once worked 767 mockup with a vo tech toilet paper appro...val. I got to mockup in 8months. I told Boeing this Gerber IDS thing was a joke and there is a new CDCAM system comíng and they should wait. That fell on deaf ears.I was fired. Boeing lost millions and in the interim MSDOS appeared. Women are nothing but trouble. Damn straight! I attended Seattle Central Community College, 2years, eng tech. Degree and had twins. I stayed home. While my 3son's were preteens, I started the Green Party of south king county, Washington state. Payback. Now theres 4 of me. See More

I find the very existence of a women centric 'engineering' group to be very regressive and offensive. I want to be treated as an equal and would rather make efforts to make my voice be heard in more c...o-ed societies. I believe a woman's engineering group over emphasizes the fact that we are a minority, when in fact we ' woman' constitute half the world. I don't want to be treated special, I want to be treated equal. Such groups certainly encourage women to pursue engineering fields, but don't really change the preconceived notions regarding the real reason for their lack of representation (In fact they make it worse). I will no longer be following or liking his group. I wish you all the best. Thank you. See More

I sent my daughter to an SWE (Atlanta) Saturday program 2 years ago. She took the information she learned then about breadboards and circuits and used it to build an obstacle avoiding robot for a scie...nce project this year. Because of her success with that project, she is now considering following her big brother in a career in engineering. See More

I heard about SWE from my lecturer, so I searched and read their magazines and then I joined their Facebook page. Though I have not attended any of the conferences but I must say that SWE has inspire...d and motivated me to becoming a better electronic engineer. I say a very big thanks to SWE!!! See More

I wish there had been someone to encourage me to pursue a career in engineering when I was in High School. I am a case study of why there is such a need for this organization. I had an above average m...ath aptitude, but no guidance about the career possibilities it could lead to. This is something that should never happen to anyone! See More
