There is still time to join me at this year's Santa Run – an annual race that raises money for some of our San Jose holiday traditions – Christmas in the Park, Downtown Ice, and more. Register with the link below.
You asked and SJC delivered – starting June 8th, 2018, San Jose International Airport will service Delta's new nonstop flight to JFK and back. New York remains the most sought-after destination for our business and leisure travelers, so we enthusiastically welcome Delta's confidence and investment in Silicon Valley's Airport. To all those who begin celebrations tonight, I wish you a warm and happy Hanukkah. Chag Sameach!
Today, Council will decide whether to pursue a Tiny Homes pilot program to house our most vulnerable residents. The question is not if we want the homeless in our neighborhoods; they already live in our neighborhoods: in our parks, along our creeks, behind our shopping centers, and on our streets. We—and they—will all be safer if we get them off the street, and into managed, supervised, and service-supported housing. We have a promising and cost-effective strategy to do so rapidly, while we work toward long-term solutions. Read my full thoughts, here: https://medium.com/…/tiny-homes-its-time-to-act-to-confront…

My dear friend and colleague Mayor Ed Lee has passed away, leaving us too early. Ed was a good and incredibly gracious man, at a time when goodness, graciousness, and civility are not sufficiently appreciated in public life. My heart goes out to Ed's wife, Anita, and his daughters, Tania and Brianna.

Last night, Jessica and I took our folks to enjoy “Carols in the California,” which presented the packed audience with the unusual experience of singing along with the fabulous Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale to the tunes of Jessica’s favorite Christmas carols. Don’t miss it next year — or this year’s Nutcracker, which the Symphony performs with a traveling ballet troupe from Moscow.
This morning, I stopped by Christmas in the Park where our U.S. Marines filled nearly two VTA buses full with toys and games for kids. Thank you to Toys for Tots for hosting the annual toy drive, and for bringing a smile to thousands of kids’ faces this holiday season. If you have a minute, please drive by to drop off your donation.
With the help of dedicated community volunteers, #BeautifySJ is making a real difference as we clean up our creeks. See what we’ve been able to do along Coyote Creek.

Which famous San Jose mansion was “built” by ghosts? Here's a hint: actress Helen Mirren tells the story in her new thriller, set to hit theaters next year, where she plays San Jose's notorious reclusive heiress. Find out in this week's release of the #Great408.
Congress said they'd help our DACA kids, but months later, we're still waiting - time for them to step up to do what's right and pass a #cleanDREAMact. Until that happens, San Jose will continue fighting for our city's thousands of DREAMers #iMarch

This December 17, join me at the annual Silicon Valley Leadership Group's Santa Run as I burn off Thanksgiving leftovers and prepare for the Holidays – the run's proceeds help support a number of San Jose holiday traditions, including Christmas in the Park and Downtown Ice.
Thank you to partners like Destination: Home, HomeFirst Services, Silicon Valley at Home, Habitat for Humanity, Knight Foundation, faith leaders, and many neighbors who joined us at Gensler’s unveiling of their pro-bono, tiny home design to house our homeless residents.
On February 8, please join us for our annual State of the City celebration at San Jose City College. Seating is limited, so register now.

This afternoon, I had the privilege of spending time with some of our future leaders from East San Jose’s Cristo Rey High School, learning about what issues they care about most. Some of these kids have overcome incredible obstacles to carve a path to college and beyond. I'm inspired by their civic engagement, and emboldened about San Jose’s future.
