THE WELSH PONY & COB SOCIETY 2016 AGM, Saturday 2nd April 20156b at The Vale Resort, Vale of Glamorgan.
Many congratulations to Heniarth Quinnell who was awarde...d the highest honour that the WPCS can give by being awarded the prestigious Miss Broderick Memorial Trophy. Quinnell has not only been succesful in Hand and Under Saddle but also his stock have been winning as well. At the 2014 HOYS Heniarth Quinnell not only qualified himself but three of his sons qualified too!! - Sarum Rembrandt, Sarum Japhet and Powys Sprite. All competed in the same class ridden at HOYS! Powys Sprite won with Rembrandt 2nd, Quinnell 9th and Japhet 12th!! Then in 2015, Quinnell was ther with his ntwo sons Powys Sprite and Sarum Rembrandt. Sarum Rembrandt, owned by Sarah & Julia Joyner not only won his ridden class but was Supreme Ridden Pony of the Year!!!
What a wonderful AGM and Dinner Dance thanks to the retiring President Dai Harris of the Pennal Stud and his wife Sian. The President for 2016 is Betty French od the Forland Stud and President Elect is Ifor Lloyd of the Derwen Stud.
Sarum Rembrandt gleamed under the spotlights to be crowned supreme pony at last year’s Horse of the Year Show, but underneath his stunning looks and eye-catching movement is a very mischievous pony... http://po.st/M83KV4
The Royal Welsh Winter Fair is always the end show of the season for us and what a season we have had.
Katie Parry showed four ponies for us, with Sarum Rosalind placed 8th. in the filly foal class, Sarum Red Baron 6th. in the colt foal class, Sarum Rosé D'Anjou 3rd. in the yearling class and Sarum Pinot Grigio 1st. in the yearling colt class. We were naturally delighted with these results but S. Pinot Grigio (George) wasn't finished because he went on to take the Section A Championship and win a Bronze Medal.
To end what has been our most successful season ever George finished his show season by winning the Supreme Welsh Champion of Show.
I think Katie was pleased. We certainly were!
Some nice photos in this month's Showing Journal. One of Crossfield Bantamcock winning the Supreme Ridden at the SWA of WPCS and one of Sarum Rosé D'Anjou 1st. yearling filly and Reserve Champion Section A. Both ponies shown by Katie Parry. The third photo is of Sarum Little Lady winning the Lead Rein class at the same show above. This is Lady's first season under saddle and she is owned and produced by Jaz Smith and ridden by her daughter Jessica. I think this is just the beginning of a very successful partnership!
As we have no hope of personally thanking the many, many kind people who have sent us congratulations on what has been the most amazing week, may we take this opportunity to say a very big THANK YOU to you all!
Congratulations to Anna Richards for an excellent result showing and producing Sarum Reflection (Voermanhof Nicolas x Sarum Rose Marie) to be the Section A Youngstock Champion, the overall Section A Champion and finally the overall Welsh Champion at Dunster Show.
