Saturday was our last and final session of Saturday Arts Lab. We celebrated by having an exhibition of all the amazing things we made. It was an absolute blast and so great to share with friends and family.

*If you were unable to attend and pick up your child's artwork it can be picked up in the Art Education Office, Smiley Art Building room 108A on Mondays and Thursdays between 1 and 5pm.

We're so excited about the exhibition tomorrow - we hope you'll join us!

When: Saturday, April 21. 10am - 12pm
Where: Fine Arts Building, First Floor Rotunda, SUNY New Paltz

We're back!! And with a bang, I might add! Literally - first graders made their own instruments and turned color into sound. We also talked about what community meant to us, experimented with clay and texture, built sculptures out of natural materials, and then painted with ink made out of walnuts, built circuits and used light to enhance our drawings, and finished our Zulu masks! We're excited for what next Saturday brings!

This weekend was the last art-making class for SAL. We packed a ton in - we the dyed and made medallions in Native American Art, finished glazing our projects and took a tour of the ceramics studio in Let's Go and Clay, made natural weavings with materials we dyed ourselves in Exploring Environmental Art, and created villains and had a photoshoot in our super hero outfits in Heroic Design and Discovery.

Please join us Saturday, April 21st for the SAL Exhibition! 10am-12pm on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building. See you there!

This week we finished up our super hero outfits, ready for a photoshoot next week! created green people masks, Native American blanket inspired artworks, and glazed many of our clay projects.

We're back! This week we finished up our super hero cities and began making our outfits - capes and all, created more natural dyes, turned our paper-mache into turtles, and made whatever we wanted to in clay!

Hi SAL Community! Just a reminder that we will not have class tomorrow - Saturday, March 24. Class will resume Saturday, March 31.
See you then!

This week we had special visitors talk to us about bees and teach us how to make bee habitats, decorated cities for our super heroes to live in, started paper-mache bowls, and began glazing our clay pinch pots!

We're sad there's no class next week (Saturday, March 24th), but that just means we'll be extra excited the week after!

Sorry for the delay on pictures!! We had a blast painting our side kicks from last week, learning about wool and felting, used a clay-like material called salt dough, and continued explorations in clay! See you next week!

Day 3 photos are in!! We made animals out of clay, created sidekicks for our superhero, talked about home and Skyped with Native American artist Melanie Yazzie, and made our own paint brushes and natural dyes. We're excited for next week!

We're excited to share with you what we did this week! We finished up our life-sized super hero and started learning about side kicks, wrote our own creation stories and made stamps, continued hand building with clay, and went outside to collect materials to make soil paintings. We're looking forward to next week!

The first session of Saturday Arts Lab couldn't have been better! We created our own super heroes, learned how to make paper with special guest Chris, from Women's Studio Workshop, made pinch pots out of clay, and paintings with our 'bear claws'!
