The dedication of the new mural this morning at Springfield High School showcased the artists and community members who produced the mural. The crowd was entertained by the SHS Mariachi band.

The Eugene Boat & Sportsman Show is at the Lane Event Center till 9:00 Friday, 9:00 AM till 8:00 PM on Saturday and 9:00 Am till 3:00 PM on Sunday. The annual show has an astounding collection of products to enjoy the great outdoors. Fishing poles? You bet, but a whole lot more. A great place to start the search for spring and summer things to do and places to go. A bonus is the 12 live shows of the "Cats of the World" presentation in the pavilion.
Springfield Public Library's Foundation presented the 7th Annual "Books and Brew" party and silent auction Saturday evening at the library. Food, games, friends and plenty of auction items made this annual after hour party loads of fun.
The annual home and garden show at the Lane Event Center is open Saturday from 10:00 AM till 8:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM till 5:00 PM. Shannon Quimby, Carol Deppe and John Fischer have seminars at the show. Music, food and fun for the whole family.
The celebration in Springfield included a march and reception at Springfield High School. Chief Richard Lewis gave opening remarks at the Justice Center. Eric Richardson's Invisible Art Project provided the music at the reception. Keynote speakers at Springfield High School were the high school Speech Contest winners.
An enchanting walk starting at New Zone then stopping at Passionflower featuring illustrator Erica Beyer. Abbas Darabi's large oils at InEugene Real Estate are bright, subtle and magical. Out on a Limb featured still life paintings by David Campbell. The guided walk ended at Oregon Art Supply with a staff show with work by Clayton Sukau, Shannon Rivers, Lindsey Kunhardt, Megan Wyma, Jordan Walker and Laura King. The Eugene Public Library had a concert with the Gus Russell Quartet featuring vocalist Laurie Hammond performing classic jazz. Upstairs in the Open Arts Studio the library featured work by artists from the OSLP Arts and Culture program.

This annual event, sponsored by the Springfield Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, offers a wonderful breakfast and lots of fun. McGruff the crime dog, Tjenko, the real dog, and of course, Santa and his bag of gifts. A big thanks to all the volunteers who make this holiday event possible along with City Councilor Marilee Stevens Woodrow, Chief Richard Lewis and Officer Daren Kendrick.
Hard work by a couple of ladies from the Oregon Riders Society, with their friends, and you have a Christmas Parade. The 65th annual parade through Springfield was definitely wet and cold, but it didn't keep the smiles from the happy crowd lining the streets. Hope you enjoy the photos.
