Mission
Seer Farms is a New Jersey-based 501c3 social-service organization that provides animal care, resources, and support for pet-owning families in crisis. This saf...ety net gives families facing a major health issue, financial turmoil, domestic violence, natural disaster, extended military service or other major life crises time to reach safety and stability by temporarily caring for animals until the families and animals can reunite.

We believe that giving up precious pets during difficult times is not necessarily best for the animals or their human companions. We believe that families benefit from (1) the emotional support they derive from their pets and (2) the peace of mind that comes from knowing their animals are being cared for while they work to overcome their troubles. To help families recover, Seer Farms provides resources and support that enables a family to become self-sufficient and surmount their difficulties. These resources and support are also intended to assist pet-owning families in pre-crisis planning and preparation, and help them mitigate the impact of their crisis on their pets.

Founded in 2008, Seer Farms has a unique perspective on animals and their people, and how to keep them together as a family during difficult times. Our Out-of-Crisis program fills an important void in the intersection of human social services and animal care offered in New Jersey and throughout the country. Our origin and ongoing service reflects our commitment to families with companion animals and the animals themselves. Seer Farms is a safe haven, providing the lifeline of time and compassion to families in crisis and their companion animals.

OUT OF CRISIS PROGRAM --- HOW DOES IT WORK?

Seer Farms provides extended emergency care for animals of families that have endured a natural disaster, or otherw...ise may need long-term care for pets because of health-related situations, foreclosures, domestic violence, or other life crises. Families place their animals with Seer Farms temporarily, for a monthly fee (determined on a sliding scale). We care for the animal for a specified time. At the end of the period the family is reunited with their pet(s). This model provides families with a bridge strategy, allowing them to recover their pets when they are able and return their families to “wholeness.” There are times when families are unable to resume care of the animals, the Out of Crisis program allows them the time to get past the stress of the crisis and find their choice of home for their pets.
