The CLS PTA teamed up with the Seymour Middle School turkey drive to provide complete meals to Seymour families in need this Thanksgiving. On Saturday, November 18, the CLS PTA held a Stuff-a Bus collecting all of the sides that make up a Thanksgiving meal! Thank you to all who stopped by to make donations. What a generous community Seymour is!

Congratulations and thank you to the Seymour Middle School 8th grade students who again this year ran a very successful turkey drive. Thanks to the work of the students and staff, they collected 271 turkeys that will go to help local families have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Due to the earlier accident on Derby Road, the Boys and Girls Club is without power and has cancelled all after school activities. If you have any questions, please contact your child's school. Thank you.

On Thursday, November 16, 2017 the students and staff of Bungay School welcomed the Seymour Veterans to be honored for their service to this nation.

Last night at the Bushnell in Hartford, teachers across the state of Connecticut were honored as their district’s Teacher of the Year. Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Meghan Goletz. Mrs. Goletz along with her family, Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Feige and others attended to enjoy the ceremony and hear from Governor Dannel Malloy and Commissioner of Education Dianna Wentzell. Mrs. Goletz has been a grade three teacher at Bungay Elementary School since 2004. As an early childhood educator, Mrs. Goletz has the opportunity to inspire a love of learning and set up her students for lifelong success. We thank Mrs. Goletz for her dedication to the children of Seymour and thank her and all of our Seymour educators on the excellent work they do every day.

Congratulations to the Seymour High School Girls Swim team who won state runner up in Class “S” at last night’s meet at Southern Connecticut State University. This was the highest finish ever in school history for the swimming program. The girls broke five school records and four girls made the All-State team.

The Senior Mentor Program at Bungay School has started. Senior Mentors enjoy their time with kindergarten, grade one, and grade two students. The students enjoy sharing stories, reading, writing, and solving math problems with their mentor. This is an amazing and rewarding program and we are thankful for the wonderful people who volunteer.

Today, all across our district, students honored the brave men and women who have served in the United States Military. The Seymour Public Schools thank all Veterans as we spend the day remembering your service.

Ms. Allison Sobieski and Mr. Yashu Putorti were honored for their years of service to the Seymour Board of Education at the November 8, 2017 BOE Meeting. We missed Ms. Sobieski as she was unable to attend the meeting but Mr. Wilson spoke of her commitment to the Board, thanked her for her years of service and wished her the best of luck. Mr. Wilson thanked Mr. Putorti for his many years of service as a member and chairperson of the Board of Education. Fellow Board members and the audience gave him a standing ovation. Mr. Putorti and Ms. Sobieski have been honored with a plaque that recognized their commitment to the Seymour Public Schools community. Best of luck to you both!
