The price of going armed without having thought can be high.
Our subject avoided jail, lost her carry permit, narrowly escaped injuring untold others, and came away portraying herself as a misunderstood victim.
If we refuse to take the time to decide who we are with a gun in our possession, we run the risk of echoing her mindless puzzlement: I'm armed and I want to do good, so I'm effectively freelance law enforcement; where's the hero treatment?
...Actively engaging in our own self-protection presents benefits and risks, the most basic of which is allowing the presence of a gun to turn all our problems into a gun problems. Be not this...
Think hard.
Train hard.
Do The Work.
Be dangerous.

Of course William April is a brilliant lecturer with some of the most important course work in the self-defense world. That sometimes overshadows the fact that he is an incredible shooter as well as a terrific shooting instructor. He reminded a group of students recently in Arizona at an edition of his Unthinkable class (co-taught with Paul Sharp). You can bet they will not be forgetting any time soon!
From a recent Unthinkable course taught by William April and Paul Sharp in Phoenix, AZ, Paul of Sharp Defense demo-ing shooting from the "three" position. Using a 357sig M&P from that range, he showed how using a locked in index will keep all the rounds in the A zone rapidly. Get to one of his REV courses as fast as you can!
