Awesome experience! I had no idea about the contents of the museum, much less the stories that go all no with it. Everyone should make the short trip out there.

We had a great time! Was happy to see Sharon there, and see all the exhibits. Even our 7 month old grandson had a good time!

Even though this museum is small, don't be fooled. It's jammed pack full of great displays, pieces, and information!

A very enjoyable 2 days seeing the Devil Dog, B 25 aircraft take off and land. Neat displays inside the museum giving an overview of the history of gliders in WWII as well as a traveling exhibit from... the WWII Museum in New Orleans here for a limited visit. Free admission on June 6! See More
Come out to the Silent Wings Museum and see our new commemorative exhibit, Columbia 15 Years After! Special reception this Thursday, February 1, with guest speaker former NASA Astronaut, Col. Steven W. Lindsey.
TXDPS landed their helicopter outside our museum today. Always a fun opportunity to learn more about the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Foxhole Christmas is in full swing at the Silent Wings Museum! 🎄

#DidYouKnow that several Horsa gliders were brought to the U.S. for testing and training? Ervin N. Holloway was a glider mechanic and in the course of his work he got to check out a Horsa glider at Sheppard Field (now Sheppard Air Force Base). He had a rather scary experience on that flight.

"While test hopping British Horsa Glider… at 2000 feet hit heavy weather and tore wing boards and parapack covers loose. Thought for a while was going to have to bail out but finally got back to ground safely."

Holloway is one of the mechanics in this photo checking out the British Horsa glider at Sheppard Field.
