Great place to go board, awesome views and loads of open space to board all over. It is not crowded and the fresh powder is great! No long lines waiting to get on lifts. I love that there are no set u...p runs that you have to follow(obviously some areas that are restricted for your safety), funneling everyone into the same spot. You go up the lift, get off of it and go down the mountain however the heck you please. There have been plenty of times while boarding other places that I have been cut off and took a hard dive because there were simply too many people in an area, not something I had to worry about here at all. The lodge isn't the greatest and there is no shop to buy or rent gear (that I seen) but that doesn't bother me at all, I didn't go here to chill in a ski lodge, I went to shred some pow. 10 out of 10, would recommend Arctic Valley to a friend! This is my favorite hike in Anchorage. It starts at a bug free elevation and is wide open so you can see everything and everyone around you. Beautiful vistas of Eagle River Valley and Cook Inlet are r...eached easily in relatively short distances. See More

Went tubing with my husband and son on Sunday... couldn't have dreamed up a better time on the mountain! Great weather, great snow, and extremely friendly and helpful staff (from the folks at the lodg...e to the guys running the lifts to ski patrol)... everyone we saw was doing their best to make sure that everyone was safe and having fun. What a fantastic hill! SO happy we live so close. Hoping to ski up a storm there next year. Thanks, Arctic Valley! (And thanks also for making our day with the creation of "Jaeger Bomb", a bonus tubing area... all 3 of us had a BLAST!) See More

I love this place. As a life-long Alaskan, it's a fun place to hike in summer, ski in winter, and attend Merry Marmot in the spring. I've met so many friendly people here--and the lodge is functional ...and a fun place to gather. See More

I had my wedding and reception here and it was incredible. The view is stunning, the chairlift ride was a unique experience for many of our guests, and the cost was affordable. Thank you to all the vo...lunteers that made the day special, especially Ronn who was busy the entire time making sure everything was running smoothly. Thank you for all you do! See More

Laid-back, Bohemian hill, with retro lifts and great apres-ski bar. It's run by the Anchorage Ski Club, and still has lots of volunteers along with paid crew. When snow is good, the hill rocks. When s...now is bad, the beer rocks! See More

Great family time! I never knew about the tubing area, and they have this "lift" to bring you back to the top of the hill. Serious family fun. I really hope they choose to expand this part of their business.

Beautiful venue for a wedding and the staff (John & Elizabeth) were great! My only complaint was that the road getting up there is a very bumpy ride, though I know that's not their fault :)

There is a cultural vibe here that I've never experienced at any other ski lift. Everyone is friend's and neighbors and the staff are made up if dedicated volunteers. This is where my grandfather skie...d, where my father skied and someday, where my children will ski. Thank you guys for the adventure! See More

It doesn't get much better this close to home. Arctic Valley is a great place to ride, explore and sharpen your skills as a skier/snowboarder. The terrain can vary but with the T-Bar you can go as far... up as you feel comfortable. Everyone on the mountain is super friendly and the Alpenglow Lounge has the best view of any bar in the whole Anchorage Area See More

Awesome location, the staff is friendly and welcoming; and very easy to move from car to the slope. And I'll say the price is right...great skiing and great pricing. We'll be purchasing season passes ...for the family! See More

I didn't rate because I'm torn with the star rating. The city of Anchorage has let this back yard treasure falter. If you can make it to the top with out major vehicle repair, then it's worth the dri...ve. Great place to hike within minutes of the Anchorage bowl.....but! the military has killed to road to this beautiful place. The city needs to back the resurrection of this recreation site! See More

The 80'th anniversary party was a great way to spend our Saturday evening. So much fun, great staff, awesome fireworks show, good entertainment, amazing torching parade down the mountain.

This is one of the most spectacular local hidden gems in Anchorage. Affordable lift tickets, friendly staff, a warm lodge, incredible views, no lift lines, fresh tracks all day.....

We've had so much fun here this winter teaching our kids to ski and ride. I love the people and the small-town atmosphere -- something we've been missing since moving back to AK from MT.

Great quiet place to play in the snow. Awesome for hikes also. I enjoyed going both times. Prices are great too.

Where else can you ski the backcountry by lift and get 10,000 ft in 10mi in 1 hour.
And it's like stepping back in time, if you skied here for the last 25 or more years.

Congratulations Kikkan and Jessie!

We're proud that Kikkan spent several years at Arctoc Valley as a youth ski racer before switching to Nordic.

Updated story: "Hearing it out loud, it still doesn't feel real," Randall said. "It's what I've been working on for 20 years and with this team for the last five years and wow, it's just so fun to put it together tonight, finally."

Randall of Anchorage and Jessie Diggins of Minnesota won the team sprint Wednesday in Pyeongchang, giving U.S. women their first medal in cross-country skiing.
