My family, along with another one, just came back from a three day weekend at Smuggs. You really need a week to enjoy everything it has to offer. It's just so "easy" which makes traveling with youn...ger children so helpful. My kids are 5 and 8 and went to the ski school camp while my husband and I could ski the mountain. The skiing was excellent as it has enough trails for beginnings up to expert. They had a free shuttle that would take you all around the resort for free and they were super quick! Everything you need is at the resort including restaurants, bars, grocery store, ice cream, ice rink, pools, etc. We loved the Brewster River Brewery. The smoked food and beers were so good and the shuttle even takes you back and forth. The only negative was we could never get someone to answer at the front desk without holding for 15 minutes. Also, the chair lifts could be a little quicker. Other than that, everything was great and we will be back again! See More

Bad experience with booking..found out they never booked the camps for the final 2 days of our trip. Eventually got squared away but the communication between the various operating teams is not good all. Kids liked the camps and excelled in their environment far beyond my expectations. Learned more and fast here than at other ski schools in the east, to date. Conditions did deteriorate during our stay which was out of their control, but very disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to blow more snow when they had an opportunity to do so. The conditions on the 22nd were well recovered but they could have blown snow in the overnight hours and didn't. Conditions would have been greatly improved if they had. The fun zone was smaller than we thought it would have been. Got the job done but was a bit underwhelming. I think that's probably the best way to describe the whole place. They get the job done, but they could do so much better. With stiff competition for skier dollars, they will need to do better. See More

I would give Smugg's a 4.5 star rating. Our condo was nice except that the heater made such a racket every time it came on in the middle of the night that it would wake us up. We were a little disappo...inted too that there was no night skiing. We were only there for 2 days so we would have liked to do some night skiing. It would be nice if the lifts stayed open a little longer especially since the days are longer now. 4:00 seems a bit early. Also, they charge $15/day for wi-fi. Every other Wyndham resort we've been to had free wi-fi. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely go back. See More

What an amazing place. Even though the weather wasn’t optimal for skiing. they groomed the slopes and made skiing great!! Ski school was out of this world!! special shout out to Roderigo who really wo...rked hard getting these three-year-olds out on the slopes. My daughter is not easy to deal with. The fireworks torch lighting.. the list goes on and on!!
A great place! We can’t wait to go back!!

I love, love, love Smugglers. The whole place suits my level of skiing which is intermediate. I don't feel I have to worry about getting on trail I can't handle - this is place I don't need my trail... map and reading glasses to enjoy the day, I just go ski. Nice long fun runs that don't scare the pants off me. Wish it was easier to get to though - thought about a bus service so I can come more often? See More

The best thing about Smuggs is the mountain is empty even during the holiday week. The staff was amazing and super friendly. We stayed at Liftside and we’re a bit disappointed in our place. I don’t mi...nd an older unit and actually would prefer it while skiing. This place had no washer/dryer, no boot dryer, no ski closet, not enough seating for my family. The kitchen was missing many basics. There was no mud room or place to come into off the lifts so you had to walk through the living room with wet boots on and bring your skis into the living room over night. The skiing was great but the lifts are terrible. Very outdated and slow. There are 3 very slow lifts in the main skiing area. All doubles. No bubbles, no gondolas. I feel like this could be a great resort if they just kept updating things. An additional $15 charge per day for WiFi is frustrating as well. We liked it but don’t think we’ll be returning. See More

This is our 15th year at Smuggs and we LOVE it here. I have always been pleased with every aspect of this place and all the amenities they have. I will continuously recommend this place to every I can..., but I do have some critics. They’ve FINALLY started making some improvements, which is nice to see but I’d like to see more put in to accommodate the worlds population growth. Like hello how do they still have two seater lifts? And it’s about time to cut out some more trails. Have more activities for young adults and are you serious with this new funzone? It’s a bigger building but has less activities, and the layout is pretty crappy. Where’s the space for fun activities like dodgeball? There’s so much wasted space in that building and the design seems very flawed. Plus the good activities are all for an additional cost? Just another cash grab seemingly. As a family resort, you need to accommodate for families (in other words - they don’t have much money) so an all-inclusive deal was what was so attractive about this place. Paying for extra activities makes sense when they’re a continual cost. But when you’ve already spent the money on a new building (ie the funzone) you should have budgeted to make profits elsewhere, instead of disappointing your loyal owners who’ve been coming for decades and expect a certain level of hospitality and freedom.
Was very excited to see all the new improvements this year, and so far it’s been a let down. Hopefully the rest of the week is more promising.

The people who work at the resort were really friendly and we enjoyed many activities, including indoor swimming, snowboarding and the fun zone. We picked the perfect weekend to vacation as far as th...e weather!! Our only complaint was the closest place to buy food, was the country store which was way over priced and not the best quality. We all agreed the next time we would bring food from our local grocery shop at home. Otherwise a great place to visit. See More

Nice mountain, no crowds, good value. But all the lifts are slow double chairs, so we spent too much time going up. And - bad luck - all ice the day we visited. Plus I spent too much time on hold f...or customer service on the phone, and they still didn’t get things right.

A bad day of skiing still beats a good day at work.

We had a good time- but I was disappointed in the ski school this year- daughter was supposed to be in level 3- but they never took her on the lift as they stated they would. The room is VERY dated. D...on’t expect to make a gourmet meal in the room. Not one pan is non stick- which is crazy!! Overall a good time. We will go back. See More

Just outstanding. From our spacious and well-equipped condo to daily lessons that took every member of my family to new ski heights to some of the very best terrain you can find in the east, Smuggs is... the epitome of charm and warmth. See More

Ahh yes today is the one year anniversary from when my wife spent 9 glorious days in Jeffersonville Hospital because of a chain link fence post at Smuggs.

I’ve skied for 40 years so I know stuff hap...pens but do you know what the wonderful (cough cough) people at Smuggs did for us after the accident?

NOTHING! Hell, the day I checked out they would not even extend my check out an hour or two so I could get my 3 kids packed and in the car to go visit their mother at the hospital.

The people at Smuggs could have cared less!

The WORST customer experience of my life!

When we were in the hospital, locals assumed the accident happened at Stowe. We would tell them no, Smuggs and they would immediately turn their nose and go “ohhh, that place is so old, outdated and down right dangerous.... we never go there!”

A year later, my wife is back to full strength but is scarred for life of skiing because of this wonderful (cough cough) ski hole.

It’s a very different resort. There is no main lodge or hotel, just a collection of different buildings that aren’t attached. While the slopes aren’t far from the lodging, it’s just inconvenient, espe...cially for the price! The pool and just about anything else you want to do besides eat are done at an extra charge. The only reason we are giving this resort one star is because otherwise you can not leave a review.

We love Vermont, beautiful country and awesome people....

We have had our ownership for some time and have visited many resorts over the years, most are comparable to a 4 star hotel ( we've encountered 1 that was less than that ) but this resort is and was the very worst.

Not only is it dated ( think late 60's early 70's.. but not in a lovely retro way) it is dirty, our room smelled, the shower/bath had that dirty black stuff in the bottom and there was F'n hair in the drain.

The furniture was deplorable.

The bed literally rocked every time we shifted or moved, and let me tell you we moved so much due to the fact that the bed was horrendous and uncomfortable.

The pillows were flat and hard or fat and hard.

The unit itself stayed so hot, we had to open the slider every time we were in the unit.

The couch was so low ( due to breakdown ) that getting up was near impossible.

You pay a cleaning fee, yet are asked to take trash out and start the dish washer.. no big deal as we usually try to make it as easy as possible for the people who come in to clean at a resort or hotel... but don't charge a cleaning fee then.

Last we had a reservation for a single level studio, I booked it this way for a reason. When we arrived, not late and not to early.. they didn't have that room for us. We ended up with a place you had to go up two fights of stairs to get to and then to go to bed you had to go up two flights of steep stairs. My husband tried to have the staff change our room to what was on our reservation .. to no avail.

Watching someone struggle each time trying to get back to the room and to get to bed is heartbreaking and makes for a miserable Vacation.

We will return to Vermont... we will never, ever return to smugglers notch resort.. even if we were paid a million dollars to do so.

We love Smuggs for the family friendly experience. The lifts are doubles and slow, but this leads to light to no congestion on the trails even on the busiest days. Awesome trail character and skill ...diversity. See More
