Update on FATS. Skinny and Deep Step are closed. All other trails remain open.

Recent work on Deep Step and persistent water seeps requires that the Deep Step Trail at FATS remain closed longer so it can dry up and harden. In cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, Deep Step has been taped off, please do not access the trail. Thank you!

FATS will reopen at 0900 Saturday 2/17/18. Lower Skinny trail only will remain closed to further dry. Thanks,

Please stay off the trails. Very heavy rain today.

FATS is still too wet to ride. Had more rain last night.

Please give FATS another 24 hours of drying. Scouted out trail and they’re still too wet.

Please do not ride FATS for at least 48 hours. Lots of heavy rain yesterday and winter drying cycle is slow.

Thanks,

FATS and Lick Fork are both re-opened.

FATS (Forks Area Trail System) and Lick Fork Trail System are closed until further notice due to the government shutdown. All trails systems that have facility support such as restrooms or trash pickup are part of the closure.

Modoc (Stephens Creek), Turkey, and Wine trails will remain open for public use. Bartram Trail which is managed by Corp of Engineers will also remain open for use.

This closure is not a local decision but is mandated per published requirements. We sugg...est that you take this time to enjoy some of the outlying trail systems.

Thanks you for your understanding during this closure.

FATS is open. I’m receiving lots messages requesting FATS status. Default on status is open. We ask that users do not ride after rains for 24-48 hours based on how much rain and season. Summer has shorter recovery time. If Trail is officially closed, we will post closure and reopening.

Thanks,
