My first time here and I didn't know what to expect. The food is different yet extremely tasty. I ordered the Buffalo tofu wings and the jerk tofu wrap. I reall...y didn't like the wrap but my best friend loved it. The smoothie was really good as well (strawberry heaven). I wouldn't return back to this establishment because the service was terrible. I understand it can be frustrating having to explain menu items to the "newbies" but it's part of the job. When we first entered the establishment we expressed how this was a new experience and didn't know much about the food and it seemed like the waitress instantly got an attitude with us. It took a very long time for our food to come, which at first we was fine with because once again we are new and don't know the process, but when we noticed other people getting their orders before us, heck even basic things like water, straws, and silverware before us I was tempted to walk out. The waitress took both our orders to the wrong table twice, instantly making it seem like they forgot about us. The gentlemen who was on the juice bar side actually took the time to explain somethings to us. Like I said the food is delicious but the service isn't worth me taking the 25 min drive out here. عرض المزيد

The service was absolutely horrible!!! There was 3-4 people at the front counter, one server and 8 tables with guest. We ordered falafel, mushrooms and stir fri...ed brown rice. We arrived at 240pm we did not get our food until 330p. We waited 15 minutes to get water, we were seated at a table and the server asked us if we were dining in?!? My first thought was no... We just want to look outside from in here?!? Duh! After he took out orders, he brought out one entree and then said you'd have to wait for the rest! He brought the other entree and appetizer about 7minutes later. We asked for straws for the water, never received them. By the time I took couple bites of my food, we were so disgusted with the service we didn't finish anything, we didn't want a to go container, we just wanted to get away. We waited another 10 minutes for the waiter to come back to check us out, he never came back. So we went to the counter to pay. The middle age cashier seemed so annoyed by U.S. Being at the counter that it just ruined the chance of us ever returning. My grandmother and I decided stop in for a meal. We had to ask if we should seat our selves and after doing so, it was about ten minutes before the waitress bro...ught over menus or even acknowledged we were there. We ordered two appetizers and two meals and the food was delicious. We ate and wanted to order desert only to be informed as our check was placed on the table that the kitchen was closed. The watress never checked on us after bringing our food to see if we wanted anything. I felt pretty ignored. We settled for a desert from the fridge and while waiting once again for the waitress to return i noticed something alarming under one of the tables. When she returned i told the waitress and she was unbothered and was rather dismissive. At this point I paid the bill and left. To summarize the experience, amazing food, horrible service to the point that I wont be returning. I dont enjoy being ignored, or feeling as though im bothering the staff when I patronize a business. Amazing vegan soul food in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I have been here a few times and will definitely be returning. We recently went for the Sunday Suppe...r and the crowned lentil loaf with mashed potatoes and kale was delicious! Even their salad dressing is great. Soul Vegetarian or Soul Veg as most may know it is a great place for your average carnivore, transitional vegetarian, or your hard core vegan. You can come ther...e and won't feel like you're being judged because of your choice of vegetarianism. I LOVE Soul Veg. Not only because of the food, but it's the warm welcome I feel when I get there. If you haven't tried yet. Don't tarry! Hustle on over to 75th and Indiana. Pull up a chair or call ahead. Some of the best soul food and vegetarian food I've had. But the service the last 4/5 times I've been has been so awful, I nearly left without my meal. 90% of the time I get the Down South BBQ Twist sandwich 100% of the time and it's amazing! The other 10% of the time I go to the salad bar, which is just so tasty! Keep up the great work!

The food was decent. The service was terrible. The waitress was not communicative at all. I was there on a Sunday with my family. We were not served all courses, because they ran out, but I was still charged full price. I had high hopes for this place and was greatly disappointed.

I have eaten here probably lose to ten times over the past year. The food has always been great. The service can be slower than expected though. Deserts are great. Macaroni and cheese great, chili great...definitely recommend.

Exciting news everyone. There will be a 100% vegan stall at the French Market in the West Loop. This booth is brought to you by Vegan Now (an expansion of Original Soul Vegetarian). Vegan Now opens up February 18th. Hours are Monday - Friday, 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm.

Today was my first visit. I was expecting cardboard tasting food. MUCH to my surprise it was soooooo fresh and flavorful!!!! There was a vast selection if it...ems on the menu, the staff was personable and professional and there was a good mixture of patrons of all ages that genuinely loved the food.
WOW is all I can say. I didnt think vegetarian/vegan dishes would be so tasteful and a great price. LOVE your seasonings!!!

Thank you Soul Vegetarian for making me a believer!
