US National Weather Service New Orleans Louisiana added 4 new photos.

Good Tuesday morning. The Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded in area to include locations as far southeast as Houma, metro New Orleans and the Mississip...pi Gulf coast. A light wintry mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain is possible, starting in areas of east central Louisiana to the north of Baton Rouge into southwest Mississippi around midday or early this afternoon. The chance for this mix of frozen and freezing precipitation will then reach areas just north and west of Lake Pontchartrain late this afternoon, and areas along the Mississippi Gulf coast and just south and southwest of Lake Pontchartrain this evening. Accumulations of sleet and snow of a trace to just under an inch are possible along with some glazing from light freezing rain in the advisory area. All precipitation is expected to end by midnight tonight, however very cold temperatures well below freezing means any moisture from precipitation will turn to ice, especially on bridges and overpasses.

After the threat of precipitation ends, very cold air will result in a hard freeze for most of the area, and brisk north winds will cause wind chill values to drop into the single digits to around 10 degrees by late tonight into Wednesday morning. A Wind Chill Advisory and Hard Freeze Warning are in effect tonight into Wednesday morning, and another hard freeze is expected for most locations Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is forecast to develop in the affected areas, but the accumulations are expected to be light. Any snow or ice would make driving and walking difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks.
When temperatures are below freezing, motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily develop.

The cold wind chills later tonight into Wednesday morning will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
