About 2 years ago I contacted a SP rep with some questions. Rather than make small talk Gary Barnett with Cedar Creek Distributors simply brought a SP demo on site for us try.
Gary showed me in detail... the ins & outs to operate the cooker properly.
I got to witness first hand how a SP cooker can streamline the BBQ process rather than read some fancy brochure filled with marketing hype. Gary drove over 3 hrs to deliver the demo WITHOUT any obligation from me or sales pressure from him. I instantly fell in love with the consistency & quality of the product that came from that cooker. Having only used offsets I was amazed at how little wood was used during a cook. In the BBQ biz the term "set it & forget it" is tossed around entirely too much. In the SP's case that saying has never been more true. It's like having a true pitmaster at the helm while you can get some sleep. Speaking of rest,or lack thereof,if you run offsets like me then you understand what "running on empty" feels like. Folks I was sick & tired of 17 to 19 hr days staying up all hours during the night babysitting that fuel hog offset cooker. I couldn't keep up. So with our numbers looking good over the last 6 months I, once again, contacted Gary Barnett with Cedar Creek & placed my order for a SPK-500.
I took delivery a few days ago. Although the cooker was shipped direct from the factory in TN. Gary drove up from South Alabama to go over everything one more time. Gary stayed the entire time while the gas lines were ran to make sure everything was working as it should. The rib racks we ordered were missing so Gary had them over nighted to us UPS. The SPK-500 is performing flawlessly.

If anyone out there is on the fence about pulling the trigger on purchasing a SP of your very on,don't wait.. Squeeze that trigger today.

This review is more about the support that you receive after spending $25k+ on each of my southern pride pits. I bought my first pit brand new 6 years ago. I trouble with it within the first year of o...peration. I was told by the manufacturer that it was an installation problem. They said that there was Negative air pressure in my building which caused the blower motor to fail. I do not have a hood or exhaust system in my metal building and there is an 8-10" gap above the roll up door. This is not an air tight building. Parts were replace. Pit has worked for 5 years now with not another problem. Manufacturer refused to pay for repairs.
I opened my second restaurant this past year...guess what? Yep, same issue. Pit went into service may 2015 and by March 2016 my pit went down....same problem, blower motor. Manufacturer sent out a repair guy. They fixed it and then refused to cover it under warranty. They said that the install date not the start up date is what they go by. The install date was past 12 months... So after 10 months of use...bought the pit brand new for over $25k and they stick me with the repair bill for over $700. I will never by another southern pride anything and I highly suggest that you don't either. There are a lot of good quality pits out there with good honest reputable manufacturers that will stand behind there products. DO NOT BUY SOUTHERN PRIDE!

SPK500 rolling smoke for almost 9 years with minimal repairs. Impressive for a piece of equipment that runs 6 days a week, 18 hours a day.

Ok . . . It was 12 degrees over night & I'm smoking Salmon in my Southern Pride smoker!
Yes - the smoker sits outside & yes I did have to scrape the snow off the cover before I fired it up!
Snow never... melted - the cabinet is so well insulated !
My thanks Southern Pride!
