Took my own dog to South Fork for quail and chukar. The place is awesome and I'm already planning my next visit! Convenient to ATL, reasonable pricing, and great/friendly owners who are easy to work... with. I appreciated their willingness to share their dog training and bird cleaning/prep tips, too. See More

My husband and I love coming to SouthForth for quail hunts and for their Pheasant shoots. We bring our own dogs and have a blast “literally.” Such an awesome crew! Jacob and Colby know how to take car...e of their clients and produce an awesome hunting experience. Southern hunting and hospitality at its best! See More

I had a chance to hunt at South Fork Hunting Preserve after winning a hunt at a UGA Quail Forever event. We added extra birds to our package and were overall very pleased with our experience. Guide wa...s great and personable, and his dog (a Brittany) was awesome. I look forward to hunting again at South Fork Hunting Preserve. Top notch operation. See More

I go on a few quail and pheasant hunts every year, and this newer preserve is just as good as some old names. Colby and Jacob were very friendly and knowledgeable about their birds. We had an afternoo...n hunt with 30 quail and 4 Pheasants. Colby was our guide, and he combined with his dogs put us on the birds! We came out with 27 quail and 5 pheasants. The dogs were able to find a few extra birds from the previous hunts for us. Overall great experience and we will be back for more. See More

Run by Colby Phillips and Jacob Nash, two young and enthused outdoorsmen who will make certain that you have a great hunting experience. Their cell phones are (706) 255-9524 and (706) 255-6372 respec...tively.

They offer some of the best flying bobwhite quail, pheasants, and chukars that I have hunted. They have a variety of fields to hunt and are continuing to develop the land. They will soon have a wooded area to hunt if you enjoy shooting in pine trees. We shot a hilly area with great cover for the birds. Nicely cut trails made walking easy. They have flat fields as well as the hills if you prefer.

They offer guided hunts with dogs or you can do bring your own dogs if you like. Colby and Jacob will guide for you typically if you visit on a weekday. Weekends might get busy, in which case you will get a seasoned guide who can treat you to a great hunt.

They offer memberships but can put a hunt together for you on the fly if you want. We called on Friday for a Monday hunt and were pleased to find that they could accommodate us. Saturday we called to switch to Tuesday. No Problem! They offer a standard 1/2 day hunt for $300 with 20 quail. We asked for 10 quail and 12 chukar, again - no problem.

The dogs were very well trained. Stayed on point until birds were flushed, never spooked a bird, stayed out of the way of our shots, and were great a finding downed birds.

Up to three hunters per guide are allowed. I would suggest that you also drop $60 to $100 as gratuity for your guide. If you are as pleased as we were that gratuity is going to be at the high end.

We showed up a bit early and went over to Valley Sporting Clays and shot their 5 Stand to warm up. If you are interested, they have a nice sporting clays course that is challenging...

I have been to numerous preserves around Georgia and will promise that this is one of the best values and has some of the nicest people that you will find anywhere. I highly recommend trying a hunt here.

Staff was very friendly
Food provided was great ...

The worst dove hunt I've ever been on.
Between 3 people we shot a 5 birds all day.
All birds we saw were flying high and were not landing due to the lack of fresh seed
Saw zero groups of birds only singles
For a paid hunt, we expected to at least have the opportunity to limit out but the birds were not there at all. We decided to do a paid dove hunt because normally we hunt WMAs, but we we're severely disappointed and will not be coming back.

Do not advertise and say you have a quality hunt if the doves are not there.

Stick to your bread and butter(quail and pheasant).

Opening day dove 2015 was awful. The number of people wasn't bad for the size of the fields but when we asked how many birds were there, we were told "we had about 300 a week ago but..." Wait...what? ...You have over 100 shooters and <300 birds. Luckily a lot of people left angry around 5:30 and we moved up to the power line. Saw 2 birds (which made 6 for the day) and got 1 shot. Completely unprepared and set up terrible. Communication was non-existent for the season pass holders. We called, emailed and texted and couldn't get a response to go back out at the end of the season. Worst part was I went to a public field on the 3rd Saturday and saw way more birds in 2 hours than all afternoon opening day. Complete disappointment. Sounds like they do a nice job with quail and pheasants...maybe stick with that. See More

I have been hunting dove for 10+ years now and I have to say this field was like no other that I have been too. I understand it was your first year guys but I feel the preparation for dove was not up par. It felt like sitting in someone's back yard waiting for a few local dove to fly in. Hope you improve your tactics if this plans on being an annual event y'all host. See More

Colby and Jacob are two wonderful and hard working owners at Southfork Preserve. A perfect set up with multiple unique field experiences for training and hunting my new lab pups! The birds are great... flushers and fliers. Thanks guys for creating a "haven in Georgia" for Zephyr and Shadow! See More

This establishment run by Colby and Jacob has the feel of quail hunting the way it used to be. God willing, Hank Jr. ( my dog ) and I will enjoy many rises, retrieves and refreshing conversations this... season. South Fork is the best kept wing shooting secret in North Georgia and up-state South Carolina. See More

Do not waste your money on the dove hunt. The fields are not managed for dove and there are no birds. Total waste of time and money.
