What a fun day we had yesterday!
STHS is in the process of developing a partnership with Pleasant Valley Elementary to help re-establish a 10 acre parcel of woodland/wetland back to it's native state. Science teacher, David Scharfenberg, has been obtaining grants and working in partnerships with various local organizations on this project for the last 10+ years. STHS learned of Pleasant Valley through the Portland organization SOLVE. The hope is to connect our Environmenta...l Science classes with Pleasant Valley in order to both help them with their ongoing project's and to give our students an outdoor site to complete field work. Another fun component of this project is that Mr. Scharfenberg has put his 6th grade science class in charge of the work site, thus STHS students will be working side by side with a group of hard working, motivated 6th graders!!!
Some of our Journalism students and Mr. Leach are attending the 2017 Fall Press Day at The University of Oregon. They have a fun packed day ahead of them with keynote speakers and workshops!
Congratulations to the STHS volleyball team last week! They won their games against Centennial Park and Reynolds Learning Academy. Pictured: the team debriefing and celebrating at their Wednesday practice. Next games are tomorrow, Tuesday, 10/24 at 4pm and 5pm at Reynolds Middle School.

Congratulations to our first Blazin Performers of the school year, Micah Tapia and Isaiah Windon. Thank you Buffalo Wild Wings for your awesome program to reward students. Blazin performer certificates are issued to students for superior achievement in their studies, community, and other relevant activities.
We are so lucky to have Mr Blaszak leading Springwater Trail High School!
Next up for Principal Appreciation Month... Let's hear it for Principal Ryan Blaszak! Springwater Trail High School's fearless leader has been with the district... for three years now, and his favorite thing about being a principal is working with students, staff and families to improve education for our community. He is most looking forward to the continued development of community experiences that compliment the learning in classrooms. In his free time, you can find him hanging out with his daughter, wife and black lab!!
Thank you for everything you do!!
