Having worked in Ophthalmology for 40 years and knowing all the things that can go wrong, I was reluctant to have cataract surgery myself. After one of my cowor...kers & her husband both had a great experience there, my decision was made. I could have gone to any number of good surgeons, but Dr. Pit Gills' vast experience & track record put my mind at ease. Everyone I met yesterday, was kind and reassuring. I never felt anything & I am seeing crystal clear with my new lens. I also appreciated the offer of the bedside prayer by the nurse in pre op. It helped calm my nerves. I look forward to clearing up the dingy vision in my "good eye" soon. See More

I was very pleased with the medical staff and their competency in performing the cataract surgery. I received co managed follow up care at the suggestion of Dr.... Gills due to my long standing relationship with my primary eye care physician. I had the surgery in February and by May 12, despite several visits with my primary eye care physician, the inflammation was not controlled. He referred me back to St. Luke's and I saw Meredith who was just great in explaining that there were no issues with the eyes and that the inflammation was due to the post surgical trauma. Also she explained they have found that the generic prednisone drops sometimes are effective while being taken but the inflammation returns as soon as you stop taking it. As such, she prescribed the name brand drops and scheduled another appointment for 2 weeks. Upon returning, she told me the inflammation appeared to have abated and to continue taking the drops in decreasing amounts until they were exhausted.

I did have a problem in receiving a bill for the $10 co-payment for the office visit and I am assuming that I will be receiving a subsequent one for the second visit. It was my understanding that all the follow up care was included in the cost of the surgery. I called the billing office and spoke to Erick, he was very smug and said at first that it was an office visit because it was not directly connected to the surgery. I explained to him that both my doctor, who had been monitoring it as part of the co-managed care, and Meredith agreed that the inflammation was due to the trauma of the surgery, so it was directly connected to the surgery. Erick then stated that the "covered" follow up is only for up to 90 days after the surgery. He is supposed be sending me paperwork that I signed indicating such. Then he tells me that another issue was the fact that I had opted for the co-managed care. He said the fact that I went to my doctor for follow up COUPLED with the fact that it was outside the 90 day window led to the additional office charge. Erikc had originally said that he was going to send it back to the doctor for review, but in the end he was hard line on me paying the $10. I told him that I would await the receipt of the paperwork. I was told by Dr. Gills that the follow up would be covered and fees shared by the doctors co-managing the follow up, there was no 90 day caveat that was brought up.

My mom has been so terrified to have her cataracts removed for over a year til her eye dr said that's it they have to be dealt with. She sent us to St. Luke's a...nd from the second we walked in til we left we encountered such friendly, knowledgeable, respect and professional care for not only my mom but others I witnessed around me. Definitely would recommend this professional family to anyone needed their help. They have made my mom so at ease that when we return for her 2nd eye she has no worries. Thanks again St . Luke's for all y'all are doing for those who need your help. See More

Everyone at St Luke's is terrific. They treat you very kindly and caring and you get a bedside prayer! Dr. Wipfli is simply the best there is! The entire p...rocess was painless and comfortable. You can eat breakfast and do the procedure in your street clothes with just a gown and hair hat. I chose the have the laser vs. the knife and that made the process even easier and seemed easier on the eyeball. Once they wheel you in the whole thing is maybe 10 minutes. Recovery was about 30 min. Great waiting room and cafe upstairs. See More

I came into St Lukes yesterday with 30% of my vision, a very small piece of metal embedded in my iris, and a lot of nervousness about my future sight. Dr Howard... performed a 10 minute onsite surgury to remove the metal, ground out the remaining rust and had me feeling much bettter in a quite astonishing time frame. My eye feels much better today and my vision has already returned to about 60% within one day. I just want to thank Dr. Howard for his medical prowess, and St Lukes for working with me as I do not have health insurance at this time. Wonderful people with excellent care!! See More

I've been waiting to go here for long time. Anxiously awaiting approval from my health insurance. Everybody was awesome. Only thing confusing to me was entering... facility, it wasn't clear where I was supposed to go. Nor was I given instruction. But once I found it, I was treated wonderfully by all! Finally getting this pterygium removed! See More

You get a good feeling when you first walk into St Luke's and once a staff member assists you, it sort of restores your faith in humanity.

They genuinely care... about you and go above and beyond to perform their services above expectations.

I had Clear Lens replacement here about 4 months ago and have been extremely satisfied with my results. Everyone I run into, I give my praises to Dr. Gills and his staff and recommend their services.

I was there because my mother had an appointment for an evaluation. I went from one waiting room to another. Needless to say, it was 3 hrs before she was finished. She spent more time waiting than with the techs and doctor.

I was terrified about cataract surgery, especially at 52... I had both eyes done in April 2017, one on the 7th and the other on the 28th. I can highly recommend St. Luke's for cataract surgery. It was a breeze and I have my 20/20 back for distance. 😎

The employee's are well informed, well trained, and friendly. They do not need an attitude adjustment everyone is on the same page of the care book they carry in their heart.
I want to thank you from a nervous candidate to a candidate who can not wait to get his eyeballs in order.

I took my dad there yesterday for his second cataract surgery. Both times we were there, everybody showed compassion, respect and were truly concerned about my dad's eye health. We were very satisfied and will be a life long patient!

St. Luke's Cataract & Laser Institute added 44 new photos to the album: Hot Dog Day!

Today we closed out our Construction Celebration Week with Hot Dog Day. The Tarpon Springs employees enjoyed lunch, a photo opportunity and the chance to enjoy the company of their colleagues from around the building. Thanks to the Engagement Committee for their work in putting on this week of activities! [Photos by TC Johnson.]

As part of our Construction Celebration Week, we held a scavenger hunt for tiny construction cones - hidden throughout the clinic in Tarpon Springs. A few of the sharp-eyed winners are shown here exchanging their cones for prizes in the HR Department. This event gave employees a reason to venture into areas they sometimes don't regularly visit and see their team members. 😀😁😃😄🙂🙃
