Thank you for featuring my story, ABC7!

This is what happens at a dynamic fitting for a new prosthetic hand. #cyborglife
Once the sensors are in place inside the socket, it's time to do a dynamic fitting!
Here's what that means: streamofcaitlinness.com/first-dynamic-fitting/

Today was the dynamic fitting for my new Bebionic hand at Prosthetics In Motion! We worked on getting the socket to fit exactly right and making sure the sensors were working properly. #cyborglife

I'm so stoked that I got to test out my new bionic hand yesterday at Prosthetics In Motion!
Everyone there is great and let me take some behind-the-scenes videos of the whole prosthesis-making process. I'm still editing those clips, but here's one of me trying out the new hand.
I've been asked a ton of questions about how the hand works, so I'll answer a few of those here...
...FAQ -
Q: How do you control the hand?
A: The BeBionic hand is a myoelectric prosthesis, which means that there are two sensors (one for opening and one for closing) that read the muscle movements of my arm.
Q: Why do you have a plastic thing around your small arm in the video?
A: That plastic thing is called a test socket. Prosthetists have to make sure that the socket fits comfortably and allows the patient to have full control of the prosthesis. If the socket doesn't fit exactly right, things won't work properly. The socket is molded and customized to the shape of my small arm and has the sensors positioned inside. The positioning of the sensors is extremely important because they have to sit where my muscle movements are the strongest. They allow me to move the bionic hand. (And sorry to disappoint, but I don't control it with my mind.)
Q: What muscles do you use to move the hand?
A: To open, I use the muscle that you feel moving when you flip someone the bird. And to close, I use the muscle that allows you to move your wrist toward your body.
Q: What is that beeping noise in the video?
A: The beeping means that I'm switching the grip pattern. This hand comes with eight different grip patterns I can switch to.
