It's an award winning Eco lodge that's currently listed in the Top 50 best lodges in the world... I'm not surprised, it is fantastic! The lodge was on the banks of the river with its restaurant overlo...oking the water. Our room had a big window facing onto the jungle, and there was even a pool at the back. David Attenborough has stayed at this lodge on a number of occasions when filming for the BBC.
At night we heard lots of animal noises and even walking to breakfast was a mini safari with flying foxes and Pablo, the resident Macaque monkey who was caught red handed as he stole our breakfast!
During our stay we were lucky enough to be able to spot the 'Big Five': Orangutan, Borneo Pygmy Elephant, Proboscis Monkey, Crocodile and the Rhinoceros Hornbill.

This lodge is incredible. From the staff, the suites and villas, tantalising food and the facilities - they are all top class. This is my second visit and will not be my last. It is such a special pla...ce to reconnect with the environment and yourself. So amazing that while we were there, we had the privilege of seeing orangutans Lucky and her baby Day. They were there to welcome us and hung around for the couple of days we stayed. An amazing experience. Treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed! See More

Amazing place to stay with exceptional setting and very good accommodations. Dining riverside was always nice and the dip pool was good for cooling off between activities. Here are some of the best op...portunities to see a multitude of wildlife with knowledgable guides and everything designed with ecology in mind. We saw the big five, except for elephants which the group the day before us saw. Seeing 5 kinds of hornbills (of 8 possible) was wonderful. And then, the real highlight, watching the mother orang utan and her 3 year old baby for half an hour from the walkways around the lodge. Truly thrilling. See More

We had a lovely stay at Sukau. The staff were fantastic and the food very good. They baked a wonderful cake for my daughters birthday which was lovely. The new villas we stayed in were beautiful even ...though at the beginning we had no water (and we were desperate for a shower) & a twin instead of king bed. All sorted out quickly & gracefully. The adverts say the new villas have wifi but this hasn't been installed as yet. Not a problem for us as it was good to escape the internet for a few days. We saw a huge herd of elephants and also proboscis monkeys, other monkeys, crocodiles & birds. Sadly the orangutan was hiding in the tree & we only caught a shadow. We enjoyed the boat safaris along the river. All together a very memorable stay in a beautiful location. See More

I went there with my husband and 2 year old boy, for 3 nights, and it was fantastic. We can not recommend this place enough, and can't wait to come back. Thank you for all, especially finding our sons... car in the river, after he dropped it. Thank you♥ See More

We made an upgrade for the very new rooms, "villa" it is more expensive than the standard rooms. Unfortunately it does not give you any more "extras" as we got in Danum Valley, Borneo Rainforest lodge...! The villas are very nice, great architecture and a super shower, we think the room is a bit small. We enjoyed the boat cruises on the Kinabatangan River, we saw the proboscis monkeys, pied hornbills, long tail , Borneo Pygmy elephants, black squirrels, eagles, pigeons, crocodile, orang utan, one kingfisher, swallows... but I do not think that the wildlife is abundant and it is rather difficult to see and photograph the animals and birds. The palm plantations are very close and has probably already made an impact on the wildlife. The food was ok, enough and fresh! Water, tea and coffee is for free, but all other drinks are charged. The employees are very nice and helpful, good service all over! The place is very pleasant, we stay for 3 nights, that is perfect! I think that more could be done to this lodge to make it a little bit more special! National Geographic has given them a very good push! Maybe that did not have the right sort of influence?.. Spent 3 days at Sukau and I can only sing it's praises. We came here in the hope of seeing pygmy elephants in their natural habitat and with the help of the wonderful guide Suki, we saw one of the her...ds making a river crossing. We spent a week at the lodge. It was an amazing experience. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food was fabulous, we had great group and had a lot of fun with our guide, Nexter. I learned a lo...t about the animals. I cannot put into words the emotion of seeing these animals in the wild and learning about the rehabilitation process of orphaned babies. We must protect these creatures and their habitats!! See More

We took a 3 week trip around Borneo for our honeymoon and our 3 days here was our absolute highlight! From the fantastic lodge itself, the amazing location, the guides (in particular Suhailie- who was... fantastic by the way!) to the huge amount of nature we saw here- a herd of Pygmy elephants, orangutans, 5m crocodile, proboscis monkeys, red and silver leaf monkeys to flying lemurs and flying foxes.. and the list goes on. I would highly recommend this lodge! See More

We came to Sukau Lodge at the start of our honeymoon, and had a fantastic visit largely due to the friendly and hospitable staff. The lodge had a lovely atmosphere and maximised our exposure to the l...ocal wildlife and culture. Special mention goes to our guide Suhailee, who was extremely knowledgable and went out of his way to ensure that our experience was a memorable one. We saw the local 'big five ' including many wild orangutan sightings including a mother any baby whilst on the way to the Gomontong Caves. The highlight of our visit to Borneo thus far! See More

We are deeply saddened for the loss of our Conservation Fellow, HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark who passed away just recently. Our deepest condolence goes out to his family.

Prince Henrik visited Kinabatangan in 2002, and we had the honor and pleasure of having him stay at the lodge. The Prince Consort also participated in our reforestation program, Kinabatangan Wildlife Corridor Regeneration Program (KWICORP), and his contribution earned him a place on our Wall of Conservation Fellows.

Prince had lamented fact he was not titled as king and said he would refuse to be buried next to his wife in protest
