Congratulations Tanya (Day Surgery Unit) for completing the Mt Kilimanjaro Challenge! Tanya together with her group raised $169,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. Not only did she reach the summit, but she did it all while battling the flu. Super woman!

Happy International Women’s Day! ‘International Women’s Day celebrates women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is a day to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. The 2017 theme is ‘Be bold for change’’. – Robert Cooke, Healthscope CEO #IWD2017 #beboldforchange

Sunnybank Private Hospital believe in supporting our local community and we are very excited to be a major sponsor of the Sunnybank Rugby Club. We are pleased to see so many players both male and female, junior and senior involved with rugby. Our sponsorship assists the club to provide jerseys, balls and medical supplies. Also, our Orthopaedic surgeons are experts in helping to get players back on the field in case of injury.

Come along and support your local rugby club. For all the information on game days and events, visit their website: www.sunnybankrugby.com.au

We had a fabulous time at Mayfest - the MacGregor State School fete last Saturday. As a major sponsor, we were proud to be a part of the excitement and despite the windy conditions, a big crowd enjoyed the sunny day.

We hope all the kids enjoyed playing our game "Operation" and we gave away lots of goodies - the most popular being our white "sunnies" so I guess we'll see a lot of those on the faces of locals for some time! We hope to see you again next year.

Commitment, perseverance and compassion - these are just some of the amazing qualities our team of nurses at Sunnybank Private Hospital share.

Tomorrow marks International Nurses Day and it is a great opportunity to say a big thank you to our team. Each and every day our nurses come to work dedicated to providing exceptional quality healthcare and a listening ear or shoulder to lean on when our patients are at their most vulnerable.
As a small token of our appreciation, al...l our nurses received a special gift from our General Manager, Tony Williams.

We say our warmest thank you to all our Sunnybank Private nurses - and all nurses out there - who dedicate their own lives, to helping others.

This Saturday 5th May is World Hand Hygiene Day. At Sunnybank Private we take #handhygiene seriously. We promote hand hygiene to our staff and patients regularly to prevent sepsis in health care and it's an important part for all our staff to ensure ongoing sustained hand hygiene for patient and health worker safety. Today, all our staff got behind this important day in the health calendar.

We love learning about our team, so we thought we’d share some fast facts about our patient services Queen, Glenda O’Neill.

“As a child, all I ever wanted to be was a hairdresser, but the last 11 years at Sunnybank have been the happiest of my entire working life.

“I was also once a leading sample hand for some of Brisbane’s Top Designers. My creativity is still flowing - in my spare time, you’ll find me cake decorating, sewing, painting or doing crochet!”

Sunnybank RSL's Des Broom today conducted a moving ANZAC service at Sunnybank Private, enabling our community of patients, visitors and staff to come together to remember those both past and present who have served our country.
Sunnybank RSL will hold a dawn service tomorrow morning at 5am, followed by a District Commemoration Service, with the march commencing south along Boorman Street and concluding at Sunnybank State High School Oval. We encourage the community to attend to show their respects and support for all courageous servicemen and women.

You know what they say; an apple a day keeps the doctor away!

Fruits and vegetables are full of pre-biotic fibre, vitamins, minerals and numerous antioxidants, which can help lower your risk of heart disease, type two diabetes, obesity and many other diseases.

Make sure you’re eating two fruits and five vegetables each day!
