Thank you so much for being here on new and especially I'm slightly short notice my name is Josh I am one of the Co-founders of currently serving as the executive director for Sunrise and it is my distinct honor to be here today in my home state endorsing on behalf of Sunrise movement senator Marquee for election bid so And I have been you know a lifelong massachusetts' ban I grew up in act and I went to my family and it's just I feel really honored that both my senators are such incredible politicians and have been fighting so hard on the issues that matter to our generation the most so six years ago, I remember being actually a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts Hammers when I first heard head marketing And I was voting for the first time in my life and I remember just doesn't organizes and students on my campus and across the state We're all supporting its effort to get it market into office statewide office as a senator because he was a candidate to stand with the indigenous communities with farmers and with young people and the people millions of people across America who are concerned about the Keystone Excel Pipeline Pipelines like it that reality series for our futures and futures of millions of people just like us and I remember him vowing to be the candidate that will stand up and fight for the future that we and I'm in in the past 10 months in particular that we have been working very closely with the senator Ed Marky has kept back comments He has become a critical champions New deal He stood with social movements and the young people thousands of people and call them fellow elected officials to rise to the occasion of this historic moment he's used to Cooper and his years of service in office to advance the movements for a regular cost not personal Because he ultimately believes mission and vision of what we're fighting for and I've also seen him take risks time and again during his tenure as ever to put the deal and policy like it front and Center in our politics begin the author and sponsor of the real deal resolution in the Senate Massachusetts residents and feels like what every single week I see Senator Markey different parts of the state but also across the country and earlier this year I was honored to be invited to gift at the state of the Union in January Meet with him in person for the first time you can really tell that this man who is emanates passion for the causes that we believe in and I asked him I was about it was a great opportunity to pick your brain about all these decades of working done I said, what was the difference between 2008 20 You're trying to cast to that name nine like what is so different about today and he said the name discount is that now we have an army of people outside the whole power Look joining us in this call for action and leading the way and now this army of people because he has stood with us. Hi everybody It's actually was our meeting space and so back of my name is Sarah and I'm important our coordinator for the Sunrise Boston I wanna thank everybody for coming on such short notice The past few days have been an absolute whirlwind sure you can agree but we are extremely excited to be here tonight to officially endorse Senator Marky for the 2020 election I think he did a really amazing job of describing all the ways. The Center has been a champion over the years which has led to this endorsement but at the end of the day I think a lot of intimate boil down to this We can't imagine a future without leaders. Crew actually stand up for the health As young activists, we talked to politicians who made this promise to us all the time the Center markie has proven this you ask time and time again that he is really standing up for us and I wanna be really clear about what this endorsement means for sunrise yes Senator Markey sponsor new deal we're forever grateful but we still have an extremely stringent endorsement process that takes into account History on a number of key issues facing our generation that gets passed through a number of committees as waston and with the National Center Marquez shown his commitment to adjust future not only on climate change but on everything from defending reproductive rights to introducing the controller dislocation to standing up for the rights of families that is why we are endorsing him and I said babe I'm not only referring to the people in this room to tens of thousands of most passionate, strong forward looking young leaders in this country who are sick of being told that they don't have the power to change I would say they certainly do have the people power and we're getting with leaders like senator Market gives us political power that we need to actually make large scale change on a National level so that I wanna say Senator this is only beginning of a long partnership as we make our way closer and closer to the deadline but also together make sweeping change like this country hasn't seen we are going to continue to be accountable as I do us but right now I want to say we got that Thank you Sarah so much and thank you for all of your leadership as a an organizer in the hub of the universe the solar system we are in into watch me she is like a one woman International public interest moving on I think you for everything that you do in organizing this movement across our country and being my guest at the state of the Union address this year each senator gets to pick one person to be our guest up Looking down at Donald Trump All people in Massachusetts I thought that she should be the person A witness to what the denier in chief is trying to do our country as he speaks for more than an hour does not mention climate science at all knowing that this issue is an existential threat to the plant into the lives of the most vulnerable people on the planet who those who are most adversely affected by inaction On the part of the United States of America the only accept the world's population but with the most important because when we lead others follow and if we don't need that allows for people not to take action This issue and this issue of climate is the National security economic health and moral issue of our time and if we do not take action now the consequences are going to be catastrophic for the entire plan We know that scientists are new side of this to say that if we do not take action that the planet will along like upwards Nine degrees Fahrenheit between now and 20 - 100.
